A Look Inside This Week's Whims
April 2023, 3rd Edition
Greetings from the tail end of this gorgeous open-all-the-windows weekend!
Hope you all enjoyed the milder side of May after the despairingly drizzly, downright dreary weather we endured last week. What a tempestuous journey it is to transition from winter to spring here in Maine!
The primary need-to-knows for the days ahead are as follows:
Our spring online auction is live!
Please donate generously and share widely. All the details are in an article below. Additionally, we've included a spotlight on Riley Parent donated auction items at the bottom of today's email. Please scroll down to explore all the wonderfully talented folks we have in our midst! This amazing auction truly reflects the talented, eclectic group we're all so lucky to call the Riley community.
May 20th is fast approaching and so, too, is our all day 50th Anniversary Celebration!
It will truly be a day to remember celebrating a half a century of Riley ! Enjoy food trucks, music, field games, a tree planting, a book reading and release, an ice cream bar, a lemonade stand, s'mores, the auction, volley ball and croquet, playing in Fortville, Riley family reunions, and more! Plan to "camp out" all day! Please RSVP today using the link below.
Finally, the spring dance is Friday May 12th!
Come dance some spring into your winter weary bones. And because every dancer needs their fuel, please remember to sign up for something to bring to the potluck. Link in the spring dance article below!
Have a wonderful Sunday evening and see you in the morning!

Potluck snacks & BYOB!
Last Monday was a wonderful evening of community, quilt tying, and snacks. Join us Thursday night as we hand bind the Riley Quilt! Absolutely no experience needed: if you can hold a needle, you can help us bring this community quilt together.
Bring snacks and drinks to share with the group, and help us finish this amazing quilt in time for May's 50th Anniversary Family Reunion & Picnic!
We need at least 6-8 sets of hands to bind this quilt in an evening. Please let Anna know if you can join us! anna.goodale@rileyschool.org
Sneak peek below of how the quilt is coming together! Indigo quilt top dyed by all Riley students and staff, quilt backing chosen by Riley Upper Schoolers, and quilt binding material chosen by last week's quilt tying ladies..

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT
The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.
Founded as an intentionally small, progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.
We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual's social, emotional and physical development with academic and intellectual growth.
At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
