A Note on Monday October 31st

There will be no costumes on Monday October 31st. We plan to do all our festivities on Friday the 28th.

A Note from Art Week

While wandering the great halls of the Farnsworth Museum on Monday our children soaked up and engaged with a variety of exquisite art - from Henry Pearson’s Sculpture to the many works of Andrew Wyeth. Drawing compliments from other museum visitors about their "presence and engagement” they even impressed the Museum guard. Thank you for sharing your children with us! - Anna

A Bees Wrap Discount for

Lunches with Less Plastic!

As we work to reduce food waste and single use plastics on campus, we're thrilled to share a discount code for Riley families from the incredible Vermont owned and woman owned company, Bees Wrap!

Use RILEY15 at checkout to receive 15% off your order with Bee's Wrap.

From Bee's Wrap..

Bee’s Wrap started with a simple idea: make it easy to cut down on plastic and store food sustainably. So, founder Sarah Kaeck turned to bees, nature’s most productive and protective foodies, for inspiration.

Infusing organic cotton with a blend of beeswax, plant oil and tree resin, she created a durable yet pliable beeswax food wrap that could be used again and again – helping people be like bees and do their part for the greater good of the planet.

From storing food in the kitchen, to packing sandwiches and snacks on the go, Bee’s Wrap is a small sustainable swap that adds up to make a big impact. Together, we can bee the change.

Community Care

Amidst the Pandemic

The beginning of the 22/23 school year has been marked with the joyful return of all the in person events we’ve been unable to safely and responsibly hold over the past two years of the pandemic. We are so thrilled to resume a more regular rhythm of gathering and socializing this school year and would like to do all that we can to preserve this privilege.

Please..

GET the covid and flu boosters and vaccines if you’re able..

CONTINUE using caution, masking, and testing to limit the spreading of germs..

SELF-MONITOR and stay home with any symptoms..

MASK at school for 5 full days while symptomatic..

Orange You Glad The Kids Were Safe During Hunting Season?

As the leaves turn, so do our clothes! Please ensure your children have a layer of blaze orange packed in their backpacks this fall. For those needing to restock their orange this year, might we suggest Riley merch in orange?

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT

The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.

Founded as an intentionally small, Progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.

We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual development of social, emotional and physical and academic growth.

At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
