Coming Together This Fall

with The Riley School Community

As we round the bend into fall we have so many wonderful opportunities to come together as a community on the horizon. In addition to moments to enjoy each other's company, we'll also have ample chance to support our wonderful school. Before we dive into those specific events, we want to take a moment to touch on an easy and necessary act of community care and support: masks. As a school we are no longer requiring daily masking. That said, there are times when an individual's or group's masking is in the best interest of the larger community. Please provide children with adequate, well-fitting masks and impress upon them the importance of wearing a mask when experiencing cold symptoms. Small acts of care add up in a big way and these acts in particular will reduce transmission of cold and flu germs in general. THANK YOU!

This coming Tuesday September 27th please join us with all of your friends, family, neighbors, and anyone else you can think to invite for a delicious evening of pizza and fundraising at everyone's favorite pizza spot, Flatbread in Rockport! A portion of all pizza sold will go to The Riley School so come hungry. Meet alumnus, grab some raffle tickets, and celebrate 50 years of The Riley School with community members young and old! VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED! For both set up (3-4 pm), and greeting and raffle ticket sales (from 4-5 pm, and 5-6 pm)!

On Friday September 30th please help us to send off September in sparkling clean style with a Community Campus Cleanup! Our fall cleanup begins at 1:30 and parents are invited to join. This event is more than just yard work: meet your children's classmates and their families, experience how wonderful the Riley Campus is in the fall, and say hello to our new barn cats, Pumpkin and Spice. Please bring gloves and check in with your children about their Reflection Group's project. Thank you to Hattie and Craig for bringing the barn cats to campus!

We're also eagerly looking forward to hosting extended Riley community on Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day on October 6th! We understand that not everyone has grandparents in town so we would love to extend the invite to near and dear family friends as well. Plan to join us for a potluck and a rousing game of Riley's special flashlight tag under the full moon!

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT

The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.

Founded as an intentionally small, Progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.

We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual development of social, emotional and physical and academic growth.

At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
