A Must Read for All Families

To our wonderful Riley families: drop off and pick up protocols have been designed with safety and efficiency in mind, and it is of the utmost importance that all families help maintain these practices. Please familiarize yourself with the below policies and pass on the information to caregivers who do not receive our emails.

Drop off and pick up  can become a source of stress for both facilitators and families when we don't work together.

Drop off and pick up happen in a single line- there is NEVER any passing in the driveway. Please do not pull up alongside another car to pick up your child. You must wait until your car is at the front of the line to either pick up your child or drive forward to park. This includes Wade Acres families.

Wade Acres families  however are welcome to drive down the INBOUND side BEFORE 3: 30 in order to park at far end of front row parking OR along the new spots in front of/  near the ( current) location of the dumpsters.

Once dismissal BEGINS Wade Acres families may NOT bypass the line.

Families with children in carseats will be directed to park when they reach the front of the line. As we get to know you and your car please feel free to signal that need.

Please be patient. This process only takes between 4-7 minutes and the safe delivery of everyone's children is well worth the wait!  We do not need to rush.

Backpacks: What Goes In 'Em?

Children's backpacks should

include only the following:

-water bottle

-lunch

-separately packed and easily accessed snack

-several pairs of clean socks and/or slippers

All other items - books, spare clothes, shoes, etc. - should be in a bag in their cubby along with a plastic or “ wet bag” to send home wet and wonderfully dirty clothing.

There should be room in their back packs for layers that they add or shed during the day. We hope this will keep layers collected and avoid so many winding up in lost and found.

Requests for All Families

Regarding Your Children's Items

-Please make sure EVERYTHING is labeled with your child's name

-Please pack extra outfits in a separate bag to be left in each child's cubby

-Morning snacks should be packed separately and be easily accessible for children.

-Please make sure you send your child with a mask.

Support Riley with Clynk Donations

Turn your returnables into donations to The Riley School! It's as simple as grabbing a Clynk bag from the box on the crooked bookshelf in the Gallery, tossing all of your returnables inside, and returning your Clynk bag to Clynk redemption facilities at Hannafords. Please remember to scan the bag!

You can also add to the collection bag on campus in the green shed.

Share Your Love for Riley

Rating Riley on Facebook is just one simple way you can support the continued success of The Riley School! The next time you find yourself with a spare moment, consider leaving a review sharing why your family loves attending The Riley School. Your support means so much!

Morning Drop Off:

Safety & Efficiency Are in the Details!

Please work with us to keep pick up and morning drop off safe for all of our children.

The speed limit at Riley is 9 mph.

Please never pass vehicles on the driveway as children are entering and exiting cars. This request includes Wade Acres parents who will park and walk their children in as well.

Unfortunately bypassing the drop off line can create unsafe situations and it’s in the interest of safety that everyone is asked to patiently wait in line.

If your child needs help with their car seat, or you are a Wade Acres parent, once you get to the head of the line you can pull up in front of Wade Acres to park and walk your child around on the right to the back play area.

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT

The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.

Founded as an intentionally small, Progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.

We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual development of social, emotional and physical and academic growth.

At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
