Installing Pressure Compensating Sprinklers Saves Water & Money

When the pressure's on, sprinklers mist which wastes water. Most sprinklers work optimally at 30 psi. Depending on where a sprinkler is on a zone, a sprinkler might be as high as 60 psi. We have tested the new Rain Bird 1800 Series Sprays featuring PRS with Flow Optimizer™ technology and found that they save water and money. These Spray Heads are ideal for use in areas with high and/or widely fluctuating water pressures. The patented PRS pressure regulator built into the stem can help you save approximately one gallon per minute per spray. It also helps to end misting and fogging caused by excessively high water pressure.

The Benefits of Rain Bird PRS Spray Heads: www.rainbird.com/1800PRS

High water pressure is a common problem in many irrigation systems. As pressure increases, so does an irrigation system's flow rate. The resulting symptoms include wasted water, higher water bills and damaged system components. But this big problem has a simple solution. By regulating high or fluctuating pressure at the head, PRS with Flow Optimizer™ technology can help you save approximately one gallon per minute per rotor or spray. Given the high price of water in many areas, you can also enjoy considerable cost savings annually.

As a part of our 2015 budget proposal, some properties will have recommendations to upgrade to PRS sprinklers to improve irrigation uniformity and save money.
