Tuesday, the 14th you can join a national discussion with other cities on the future of music and performance venues.

Musicians & Food Vendors Wanted
for
City Events
The CitiParks Office of Special Events invites entertainers and food vendors to complete an interest form ahead of the 2023 summer events season. Local bands, orchestras, musical artists and food vendors of all kinds are encouraged to complete the simple online form to express interest in playing or serving at two-hour concerts and other city-sponsored events.

PA House Reps Hold Hearing on Public Safety and Nightlife
|
Office of Nighttime Economy testified at the hearing hosted by State Rep Jessica Benham. Speaking alongside nightlife venues and residents, Allison Harnden shared businesses' challenges, and asked for state assistance for resources to support safe nightlife and life at night.

Office of Nighttime Economy partnered with Office of Homeland Security, EMS, Lawrenceville Corp. and Lawrenceville United to organize trainings for owners and staff from night businesses citywide. Spirit in Lawrenceville hosted the space and food. The session includes Active Shooter, Stop the Bleed, CPR and Narcan trainings.

Office of Nighttime Economy convened City departments to meet with night businesses for the annual pre-St. Patrick's Day bar safety meeting on the South Side.
The goal is to get everyone on the same page: go over logistics, pre-empt issues, and plan for safety and business success.

$50k Music in Action Grant
|
|
The Live Music Society’s is accepting applications for grants up to $50k for venues whose primary business is live music. Must be in business on or before Jan 1, 2019 and have occupancy 50-300. The goal of the music in Action grant is to help venues explore new ways to:
- Expand existing audience
- Develop pathways that lead to revenue generation
- Connect with a younger demographic
- Welcome, include and support historically marginalized groups, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities
- Take a chance on a new program or initiative otherwise not able to implement or expand.
- Generate more press, increases attention and stronger ticket sales
- Make better use of facilities during daytime hours
- Contribute to long-term economic viability
