Hello District 29!

This is the seventh in a series that compares Senator Shower with Candidate Massie.

Part 1 -- Part 2 -- Part 3 -- Part 4 -- Part 5 -- Part 6

You Will Know Them by Their Fruit

God help us if an individual without integrity is elected.

Suzanne Downing, of Must Read Alaska,

wrote about Part 6 of this series on our Senate Race:

Doug Massie Responded:

Response to Doug Massie

Are we to sweep disturbing facts under the rug,

or should we put the truth out there?

Sometimes we must make that tough decision during campaign season.

First, in response to Doug Massie's accusation, no Senator Shower did NOT miss 25% of his votes. All legislators have things arise and all miss some votes. NOBODY missed anywhere near that many, for goodness sakes - not even Senator Von Imhoff, who made frequent trips home to be with her father as he was passing. Keep in mind that we have a citizen legislature that is supposed to last 90 days, so that legislators can return to their 'normal' jobs and lives the rest of the year. Senator Shower's first 4 years were fraught with extensions to 120 days, and many special sessions, so yes, he did miss some votes to maintain employment and take care of his wife after major surgeries. He didn't miss even half the amount that Massie claims. Some missed more and some missed less than Senator Shower.

Since he offered, I'd love to see Doug Massie's personnel records. In addition to items already mentioned, I'd like to see his F3 application to become a police officer (and any notes attached to it), so I can verify or dismiss another rumor I am told about that too (from yet another trooper source).

I'd also like for Doug Massie to sign a request (for me), for a background check with the Alaska State Troopers. It has been suggested I do one, so I looked into it a month ago. They said I need his signature, and I didn't think he would be willing so I dropped it. Now maybe he is willing, given he is willing to open up his personnel records.

In Court View you will see that Doug Massie filed 2 civil suits against the young fellow that fatally collided with his father, Dallas Massie. It was Dallas Massie who apparently ran a stop sign (per an ADN article), but the young man was traveling at a very high rate of speed and was under the influence of alcohol, so he was charged with manslaughter and DUI. This is one active litigation that Doug Massie allegedly interfered with at the Palmer Trooper office.

Also of interest, Doug Massie has been asked twice by Edna DeVries (MatSu Borough Mayor) to attend alone or debate Senator Mike Shower at her School of Government, but he said no. Our ARP Valley Region Rep for districts 25-30, Ron Johnson, also asked if he would attend a debate sponsored by districts 29 and 30, but he notified Ron that he is unavailable. I asked Ron Johnson to ask him what dates he IS available, so we can get Senator Shower and Candidate Massie together for a debate in our districts. I will let you know if it happens.

Lastly, according to Doug Massie I'm an 'operative' for Senator Shower. Yes, I am the ARP District 29 Chair. Our district endorsed and nominated George Rauscher and Mike Shower as our nominees, meaning we cannot endorse or promote anyone else (I told this to Doug Massie when I met him). It is my job, as chair, to put out any information on races that I deem important for our voters. I did this for George Rauscher when he was endorsed (and had a credible opponent), and now it is Senator Shower's turn. The first 5 parts in this series are about policy differences proving Shower is a conservative and Massie is a moderate. Parts 6-7 are about integrity. I will write more if more becomes well known / provable.

We cannot afford to replace our conservative senator with a moderate.

District 29 Donation
We are very short of our goal to help Senator Shower by communicating candidate differences to a wider audience on a post card. Unless there are huge donations next week we will have to either drastically modify or cancel this project.
We now have $860 toward our goal. We estimate $4500 to reach republicans only, and about $8000 to reach the widest audience possible, which is our preference.
We will continue our email series if issues pop up, and hope you will share the details with other voters in our district.

Quotes & Shower Supporters

Senator Shelley Hughes

Senate Majority Leader

April 2022 statement made in reference to work on sexual crime legislation:

"Senator Shower is not only an asset to our Mat-Su Delegation, but he is a consistent, reliable conservative vote in the Senate and a team player in the legislature. He's a tough guy when he needs to be - and that's usually the side the public sees - but he also knows how to get down to brass tacks and work through to consensus with House and Senate members in a reasonable way to get sensible items across the finish line. I'm proud to work with him. He's a great colleague."

Election Info

Rank the Red!

In the primary, we voted for one person.

The top 4 vote-getters will move on to the general election.

In the upcoming general election, you will rank up to 4 candidates.

The winning strategy is to 'Rank the Red'.

In other words, rank ALL republican candidates to ensure a republican victory.

Leaving any of them out will give the left / democrats an edge toward winning.

Note: Lisa Murkowski is a democrat.
