Hello District 29!

This is the fifth in a series that compares Senator Shower with Candidate Massie.

Part 1 -- Part 2 -- Part 3 -- Part 4

You Will Know Them by Their Fruit

Overview of political issues this week.

You won't want to miss next week's 'October Surprise' on integrity.

Senator Shower

Defined Benefit Plan

Does not support a defined benefit plan for all state employees, as it is unaffordable and will require billions in additional funds.

Union Support

While a member of a union, is not backed by unions nor receives money from them.

Election Integrity

A leader on election integrity efforts and legislation.

Judicial Officer Selection Reform

Filed the only bill on how we select our judges.

Veterans Issues

Key player in a host of veterans issues from bill co-sponsorship, to the Veterans Caucus co-chair, to DMVA work, to Joint Armed Forces Committee co-chair, to suicide prevention, etc.

Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice

100% Pro-Life (see Part 4).

PFD

Promotes the statutory PFD as sustainable, responsible, and affordable (see Part 2).

Binding & Bi-Partisan Caucus

Against both, fought both, and was instrumental in keeping both out the last two years (see Part 3).

Supported / Endorsed by Conservatives (see Part 1).

Candidate Massie

Defined Benefit Plan

Wants a defined benefit plan for state employees, which will lead to a massive budget shortfall requiring either taking the PFD from the people to feed government, or drive the creation of a tax, or both.

Union Support

Backed by unions and receives money from them.

Election Integrity

Doesn't discuss it.

Judicial Officer Selection Reform

Doesn't discuss it.

Veterans Issues

One mention (one sentence) where he 'supports' veterans on his website.

Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice

Doesn't discuss it (see Part 4).

PFD

Supports a PFD only if 'sustainable' and 'responsible', and implies that Alaska cannot afford one - just how the democrats word it (see Part 2).

Binding & Bi-Partisan Caucus

Will not pledge against either of them, and both are in danger of happening this year (see Part 3).

Supported / Endorsed by Moderates (see Part 1).

We cannot afford to replace our conservative senator with a moderate.

Please consider donating and/or volunteering personally for his campaign!

DONATE
We are very short of our goal to help Senator Shower by communicating candidate differences to a wider audience on a post card. Unless there are huge donations next week we will have to either drastically modify or cancel this project.
Thanks to a $500 surplus in our account and your donations this past couple of weeks, we now have $810 toward our goal. We estimate $4500 to reach republicans only, and about $8000 to reach the widest audience possible, which is our preference.
We will continue our email series, and hope you will share the details with other voters in our district.

Senator Shelley Hughes, Senate Majority Leader

April 2022 statement made in reference to work on sexual crime legislation:

"Senator Shower is not only an asset to our Mat-Su Delegation, but he is a consistent, reliable conservative vote in the Senate and a team player in the legislature. He's a tough guy when he needs to be - and that's usually the side the public sees - but he also knows how to get down to brass tacks and work through to consensus with House and Senate members in a reasonable way to get sensible items across the finish line. I'm proud to work with him. He's a great colleague."

Election Info

Rank the Red!

In the primary, we voted for one person.

The top 4 vote-getters will move on to the general election.

In the upcoming general election, you will rank up to 4 candidates.

The winning strategy is to 'Rank the Red'.

In other words, rank ALL republican candidates to ensure a republican victory.

Leaving any of them out will give the left / democrats an edge toward winning.

Note: Lisa Murkowski is a democrat.
