A Look Inside This Week's Whims

May 2024, 1st Edition

Happy Sunday, Riley Community!

Hope you're feeling pumped up because ::drum roll:: Riley's Spirit Week kicks off tomorrow!! Each day this week has its own prompt for the children to explore and have fun with, starting tomorrow with Monochrome Monday. You should have received an email earlier this week with the list of the prompts; they're also listed below. A true harbinger of spring, children and faculty alike look forward to this fun annual tradition that brings the entire campus together through games and opportunities to get creative and express oneself. Participation is 100% optional!

Spirit Week isn't the only exciting happening on the Riley campus this week.. we're thrilled to announce the event of the season: Kid Hugging Day! We know many of you would love to come meet the new baby goats and give them a cuddle so please join us after school this Friday (3:30-4:30) to do just that. Additionally, please take a moment if you haven't already to familiarize yourself with the rules (below) around the livestock on the Riley campus. Thank you!!

A must read on our goats.. As you may know, the Riley goats have kidded! This new life on campus is bringing much excitement to all in the community and we are so thrilled to have had such an incredible kidding season. Please... keep the well-being of our goats in mind and respect the following don'ts..

Livestock Don'ts.

Please... do not feed the goats.

Please... do not bring dogs to meet the goats.

Please... check in with Craig before entering the enclosure.

There is no admittance to the animal enclosure over the weekend. Keeping the animals safe and happy is our number one priority and we thank you all for helping us do just that!

See you in the morning!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

The Riley Facilitators always like treats and flowers etc

but would truly value getting a Spark Note from you.. a personal note from you or your child . Is there a special moment that made a difference to you? Is there something notable your child and family have learned or appreciated?

Drop off individual personal notes or give more general ones to Becky to share with the faculty.

And get your party hats ready for

Please send children with back up clothes, particularly extra socks, and rain gear! Spring has sprung and having the right extras and gear can really make or break a child's day! Don't forget to label clothes!

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT

The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.

Founded as an intentionally small, progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.

We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual's social, emotional and physical development with academic and intellectual growth.

At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
