A Look Inside This Week's Whims

March 2024, 2nd Edition

Greetings, Riley community!

Hope you all had a restful weekend and found moments to enjoy the sun while it was out. This week we'll be readying campus and ourselves for Maine Maple Sunday. This event is not only a beloved annual tradition, it's also a great opportunity to share Riley with all of our friends and family. We encourage all families to extend the invite to their wider communities to Riley's Maine Maple Sunday!

Campus is wet these days so please make sure children are sent with ample backup clothes, particularly socks, and layers so that they can be comfortable throughout the day.

See you bright and early in the morning!

Don't forget to volunteer for Maine Maple Sunday at Riley!

Maine Maple Sunday is Coming!

Sunday March 24th, 10 am - 2 pm

Mark your calendars for Riley's sweetest annual event! Maine Maple Sunday on the Riley campus is an all hands on deck event so keep an eye on the volunteer sign up sheet for ways you can get involved. Additionally start thinking of who outside of our immediate Riley community you would like to invite to join in on the fun. Not only is this event made merrier by more company, it's also a valuable fundraiser and community outreach event. We're also thrilled to share that Riley's incoming director, Annie Hasselgren, and her family will be joining us on campus that day. Let's make this our best Maine Maple Sunday yet!

Call for Auction Donations!

It's that time of year to start preparing for the Annual Riley Auction! Are you an artist, maker, or craftsperson? Do you own or work for a local business that might be interested in donating? Do you have a skill you could use or teach someone to do? Get creative and reach out, all ideas are welcome and no donation is too small.

MATCHING GRANT OPPORTUNITY

Support the Riley Children's Fund Today!

Calling all advocates of joyful, meaningful education!

Riley School’s buckets are overflowing… but our coffers are low!

Intentionally small, our impact is far-reaching..and we must reach out well beyond our community to keep this growing campus thriving.

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to amplify our impact. With $30k already raised towards our $70k target, a donor has pledged to match donations up to $50k total received by April 10.

Your support will not only help us reach our goal but also contribute to fostering joyful learning environments, supporting families, and empowering our dedicated faculty.

Let's come together and make a lasting difference in the lives of our school community. Join us in keeping everything flowing! Click below to make your donation

DOUBLE MY IMPACT!

The Theater Needs YOU!

There are some exciting opportunities in the realm of Theater for those with the skill and desire to create a few needed set or costume related items that would enhance our program. A few ideas I have about these possibilities are installing a tight wire across the upstage edge of the stage on which a hanging backdrop could be installed, rehabbing/recreating flats for the flat-holders we have used in most of our recent productions, cleaning and maintaining the casters on the flat-holders, assisting with costume acquisition during the upcoming Spring production (needed in mid-May) or assisting in set piece construction/prop acquisition as needed also in mid-May. If you have any interest in any of these opportunities, be in touch and we can go over details. - Michelle

Have You Submitted Your

Re-enrollment Forms?

It is incredible to think that we are beginning to plan classes and enroll for next year! But it is time and your re-enrollment intention forms will arrive in the next week. the form indicates your intention and is non binding. We ask you to return them no later than Friday March 1st.

The new Variable Tuition Rate application process encourages everyone to  submit paperwork and work with the tuition committee to contract at a workable figure for all. Please be looking for this mailing over break and begin gathering tax returns and w2s to support your application on or before March 15th after which you will be provided with a contract for re-enrollement and deposits will be due by June 1st.

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT

The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.

Founded as an intentionally small, progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.

We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual's social, emotional and physical development with academic and intellectual growth.

At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
