Download the Canvas Student App
Did you know that there is a Canvas mobile app for students? Download Canvas Student on your mobile device to access your courses wherever you are!

You can keep track of your course calendars, submit assignments, take quizzes, and more all from the palm of your hand! (Though we don't necessarily recommend the quiz part due to potential errors.) This is a great way to track your Canvas notifications such as when a new grade gets posted or when your instructor makes an announcement.

Just search for “Canvas Student” in Google Play or App Store!
Canvas Support Available Over Winterim
Tier 1 Support is still available 24/7, 365 days a year, even over Winterim.

If you have a question about Canvas or need help using the learning management system, be sure to contact Tier 1 Support. Canvas support is designed to answer over 95% of questions you may have about the LMS, and any questions they can't answer directly will be sent to Parkside's admin team.

You can access Tier 1 Support by logging in to Canvas and clicking on the Help button located at the bottom of the gray left hand navigation bar. You can search the Canvas Guides, chat online, email, or call. The number for student support is 1-833-820-4070.
PARC Closed Over Winterim, but Online Resources Available
The Parkside Academic Resource Center is closed until February 2nd, but there are still plenty of resources available from the PARC online!

Utilize the Student Success Guides to learn effective test taking strategies, how to discover your learning style, effective note taking strategies, and so much more.

When the PARC opens back up next month, you can also schedule time with a Student Success Coach to learn things like:
  • Developing good study habits
  • Managing your time effectively
  • Preparing for tests
  • Using class and campus resources
  • Navigating your online courses
  • Coping with stress and test anxiety

If you need tutoring help while the PARC is closed, remember that NetTutor is also available through Canvas in a wide variety of subjects.
New Students Need to DUO Authenticate!
DUO is UW-Parkside’s Two-Step Authentication system. We currently use this as an extra security measure on Canvas and Solar. With DUO, if someone malicious gets a hold of your credentials they won’t be able to access sensitive information such as course work, grades, or financial information. You can learn more about DUO here: https://www.uwp.edu/explore/offices/campustechnologyservices/two-step.cfm

If you attempt to log into Canvas or Solar from the UW-Parkside Logins Page but are presented with an "Access Denied" message after signing in, that means you still need to enroll in DUO.

The DUO Mobile app is available for smart phones, but if you do not have a smart phone, or have a phone that does not support DUO Mobile, please contact the Tech Bar to be setup with a DUO Fob that will be available for $20, charged to your student account.

For a detailed walk-through on how to setup your DUO account, please visit the KnowledgeBase here.
Major in you.
