Attends SVCC Power Line Graduation
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe was tapped as the honorary 100
th graduate of the Southside Virginia Community College Power Line Worker Training School on November 21, 2017. He joined the 24 other graduates completing the sixth class held since opening of the program in March of 2016.
SVCC's Power Line Worker Training Program is a direct result of McAuliffe's belief in credentials for workforce readiness and he noted his administration provided the first $200,000 Talent Solutions for Economic Development Grant to get it rolling.

Benchmark Honors Walker's Legacy
Benchmark Community Bank has established the Michael O. Walker Benchmark Community Bank Scholarship at Southside Virginia Community College. This honors the leadership and legacy of Walker's 43 years of service at the bank.

Ima "Nurse" Brown Scholarship Established
The SVCC Foundation is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for SVCC nursing students. The Ima "Nurse" Brown Scholarship was established by Mrs. Brown to assist students who are enrolled in their final year of the Associate of Applied Science degree nursing program. Microsoft Donates Equipment
SVCC students, staff and faculty join representatives from Microsoft in front of equipment recently donated by Microsoft to the CITE (Center for Information Technology Excellence) lab located at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center in South Hill.
The CITE Lab opened in August and offers both high school dual enrollment students and adult evening students the opportunity to train as IT technicians while earning college credit and having the opportunity to earn CompTIA certifications.
