2016 Randolph-Henry High School graduate, Tyler Amos, from Keysville, VA, earned a Career Studies Certificate in Diesel Mechanics from Southside Virginia Community College in 2017.
With previous experience working with heavy machinery at Brown's Forest Products, Inc. and still in the SVCC program, Tyler was hired by Carter Machinery in Mechanicsville, VA as a Diesel Mechanic. He has plans to obtain a commercial driver's license in hopes of becoming a Field Technician for the company.
In addition to the support he received from family, Tyler also appreciates the guidance he received from his Career Coach at Randolph-Henry. "I really need to thank is Mrs. Tharpe for introducing the diesel program at Southside and helping with the process while in my senior year."
Tyler encourages students,"Don't be afraid to apply for the job that you think you will never get or will make you move away from home. Opportunities don't come every day, so when you get an opportunity take it because that is how you get your foot in the door with a good company."
