How You Can Help

-More info re: costume help will be forthcoming. In the meantime if you are interested in helping with sewing, please contact me via email, even if you have already done so, so I can make sure I have the most up-to-date list of willing helpers.

-Please look for bright colored shirts (preferably not tee-shirts), and leggings or socks with any sort of pattern for all of the children.

-All Middle School and Upper school children should have slim fitting shorts and tee-shirt for UNDER their costume for quick changes (many of them have quick changes!).

Practicing for the Yellow Brick Road...

We are excited to announce:

Tori Marsh to be with

Wade Acres 4 full days a week!

Tori Marsh holds a BFA from Maine College of Art and an MAT from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She found the midcoast area on her way to an artist residency in Canada, immediately fell in love, and knew it was where she needed to be as an artist and mother.

Tori believes art offers pure, uncontainable, exploration. To quote Helen Frankenthaler, “There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen. Go against the rules or ignore the rules. That is what invention is about”.  This is how Tori approaches working in her own artistic practice, and how she plans to foster children’s art making.  Her hope for facilitating art with the Wade children is to simply give them time and space to explore all kinds of materials and techniques, and see the magic they create.

She is an embroidery artist, avid gardener and mother of fellow Riley student, Otto. Tori hopes her love and enthusiasm for art, nature and exploration will help her guide children at Riley for years to come.

On Sickness

There are many colds and bugs beginning to appear.
Please continue to self monitor and keep your children home when any symptoms of contagious illness appear.
Even with a negative covid test, our policy remains that before returning a child must be:
-fever free for 24 (unmedicated) hours,
 -show marked improvement in symptoms,
-have minimal nasal discharge, sneeze or cough,
-AND be able to remain fully masked with a dry, clean mask.
You must also provide a negative rapid test on the day of your child's return. Thank you for helping maintain the health of our community!

All Families

The Riley School Day starts at 8:30. Drop off closes at 8:45.

Please help us get our days off to a great start by arriving

no later than 8:45!

With temperatures on the rise it's once again time to begin regular tick checks. Please consider re-stocking your child's tick/bug spray. Thank you!

Mud season is still upon us! Please send children with plastic/wet bags to store muddy and wet clothing that accumulates throughout the day.

Important Notes About Parking & Late Drop Off

Late Arrivals must check in at the office. Children may go directly to class but a parent MUST come sign off on our morning check list.

Additionally, there is no parking/ drop off available by the office. Children are playing - no cars please. Instead please park out front or by dumpsters and then walk to the office. Thank you for helping keep our campus safe!

RILEY MISSION STATEMENT

The Riley School guides children to become independent, lifelong learners and innovative thinkers.

Founded as an intentionally small, Progressive, ungraded elementary school in 1972, Riley recognizes each child’s unique learning style. The innovative and personalized curriculum challenges children to express themselves and develop their own intellectual and creative capabilities through discovery, questioning and active engagement.

We foster a sense of responsibility towards our natural world, our community, and each other. We value cooperation and collaboration, while balancing the individual development of social, emotional and physical and academic growth.

At Riley we trust in children as learners. We honor and respect the uniqueness of the individual. We cherish and protect childhood.
