Greetings from Kigali!
In this month's newsletter, we are including a selection of our in-house videos featuring some of our favourite camps, hotels and lodges in Rwanda, known as the 'Land of a Thousand Hills'. The properties showcased in our Video Gallery are located in the country's top tourism destinations, namely Volcanoes National Park, Kigali, Akagera National Park, and the Kivu Belt region, which comprises of Lake Kivu and Nyungwe National Park. Offering a combination of nature, adventure and culture, from trekking through the forest in search of mountain gorillas to exploring art galleries in the country's vibrant capital city Kigali, it is no surprise that Rwanda consistently ranks as one of Africa's hottest travel destinations.
When choosing accommodations in Rwanda, we can suggest a wide range of properties where guests can stay. If you have an alternative property in mind, contact us as we contract with many accommodation providers. We conduct regular site inspections to ensure all properties featured in our itineraries adhere to and maintain our expected service levels. We have access to the best locally contracted industry rates, and we regularly compare our prices against those of our competitors to ensure we always offer a competitive service. Stay tuned for additional accommodation videos which will be added to our website in the coming months.
This month, Travulous hosted two successful Familiarisation trips for Travel Advisors to learn more about Rwanda, including its mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, Big Five and conservation initiatives. The Volcanoes National Park segment of these trips was guided by our specialist Tour Leader, Ian Redmond. Ian worked with Dian Fossey at the original Karisoke Research Center in the 1970s, introduced Sir David Attenborough to the mountain gorillas, and taught Sigourney Weaver to grunt like a gorilla for her award-winning role in 'Gorillas in the Mist'. Included below are a selection of photos taken during our two FAM trips.
