DORA in Downtown Tipp
Downtown Tipp City was recently approved as a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA). Although our library is located in downtown Tipp City, we are not considered a regular DORA location. However, by voting approval of the Tipp City Public Library's Board of Trustees, our library may participate in events in the future that would temporarily allow DORA--stay tuned for upcoming events and watch for changes on the signage on our front and rear entrances. To learn more about DORA, visit Downtown Tipp City's website for more information.

Large Art Installation in Full Swing!
Muralist, Atalie Gagnet, and her team, are making history happen in Tipp City this week by painting the large art installation on the library's exterior wall facing the alley that is shared with Coldwater Café. If you stop by the alley, you may be able to catch the art process live as it is happening and watch it all unfold before your very eyes! An event announcement formally unveiling the artwork will be coming soon--stay connected with our library through our Facebook page and our newsletter to receive updates on the painting process and the latest information. This large art installation is community funded--THANK YOU to our supporters and individual donors who have funded this project--this project would not be possible without the support of the Tipp City Foundation, Tipp City Area Arts Council and the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce Teen Leadership Academy. If interested in learning more about supporting this project, contact our Library Director, Lisa Santucci, at (937) 667-3826 or director@tippcitylibrary.org.
Library Not Accepting Book Donations at This Time

Unfortunately, due to space constraints, our library will continue with not accepting donations at this time. With having to cancel our Spring and Fall Book Sales, our book donations have reached full capacity. We thank you for your patience and hope to gather again for another epic book sale in the future! We continue to have used books for sale at our library on the back wall behind the Library Director's office, near the main circulation desk.

INFOhio Shares Tips for Best Practices for Children on Reading Digital Text
Today’s students access text in both print and digital formats and are expected to understand and evaluate what they read in both formats. Studies show that humans read digital text--words on television and computer or handheld devices--differently than printed text. The very nature of digital text--with pixels, specific word layout to fit the screen, having to scroll and the many graphics and ads blended in with text, along with hyperlinks embedded in the reading--often leads readers to skim, lose focus and grow exhausted from reading. Skilled readers are able to adjust and make the transition to digital text, but those who are learning to read and also struggling readers in elementary, middle and high school need additional support and instruction to master comprehension and evaluation of digital text. With more students learning on-line this year, parents and teachers must address these issues and help develop digital readers. Click here to learn more from our partners at INFOhio or visit our Children’s Progam webpage for more information.
