HAIS & HONOLULU Magazine Collaboration: Mar. 29
Now in our second year of partnership, we are thrilled to be moving forward with the HONOLULU Magazine blog collaboration. Together, we have identified a list of topics for 2018/19 that are relevant in education, as well as interesting to their readers.   Please take a moment to complete   this form   by March 29, indicating which topics your school would be interested in writing about. The topics you select should be areas that your school demonstrates a high-level of competence, performance, knowledge or expertise.
Please note that blog pieces have the potential of being developed into longer, featured articles, which would appear in the quarterly HONOLULU Family Magazine. Such opportunities will be at the discretion of the magazine staff, though they will collaborate with HAIS and the original blog writer to further develop such articles.

A little more about the Collaboration:
* Blogs will be written by educators in HAIS member schools, HAIS staff and HAIS Board members.
* HONOLULU magazine has provided guidelines for the writing process.
* Blogs will be reviewed by HAIS, edited by HONOLULU Family, and published upon the author's approval.
* Blogs will be written in advance and posted online through the year.

It is our goal to have as many HAIS schools as possible participate in this collaboration, and truly appreciate your time and effort. Please feel free to visit the   Honolulu Family website, to see all the articles written by HAIS member schools to date.  Please do not hesitate to contact Deanna D'Olier with any questions.

Fritts is offering this presentation during school hours as part of his classwork, or whenever it fits best for the school; his goal is to help reduce the need to "come out," rather then just "be."
If you're interested in having William Fritts come to your school and speak, please contact him directly.

March For Our Lives: Mar. 24
Taylor McKenzie, a senior, along with other high school leaders at Sacred Hearts Academy, college representatives, and local organizations, is planning a March For Our Lives on March 24. They believe that  their  event should be a collaborative effort that unites all schools and organizations in Hawai ʻ i to be a voice against the continual support of guns, and bring substantial change to the government.
During the march, they will start at the Capitol, go past the Federal Building and the Department of Education's (DOE) Main Office, and then return to the Capital. This route has been chosen with great care; the Capitol, to demand state legislatures hear their voices and take action; the Federal Building, to call upon their federal officials to enact sensible gun reform laws and regulations; lastly, the DOE, to demand mental health issues and children with special needs do not go unnoticed, and get the care and attention they need from the community.
If you have any questions, or wish to get involved, please contact Taylor directly.
