Hurricane Victims Thankful  for Ozmar's Cool Job
As evidenced by the 'thank you' bag of snacks and water left in his work truck by a grateful Florida resident, James L. Ozmar III has a cool job.

Hurricane Irma devastated Florida and Ozmar, a native of Jarratt and graduate of the Southside Virginia Community College Power Line Worker Program, joined the long line of power and construction workers dispatched to help rebuild in that state.

Apprenticeship Takes Center Stage at Data Center
Over a year ago, Matthew Hamlett was looking for a job. His outlook did not seem promising but still, he had to find a job. Apprehensively he drove to the South Boston Workforce Center praying someone there would help. His simple plan, file for unemployment, and look for a job. Uncertain on what to expect, he quickly realized the benefits available to him at this community resource center. 
Kitty Solari Nursing Scholarship Awarded
Victoria Finch, a SVCC nursing student from Mecklenburg County, is the first recipient of the Kitty Solari Nursing Scholarship.  The scholarship was established to honor Kitty Solari's dedication to her profession.

SVCC students, faculty and staff are giving back to the community and the nation as items are collected for the victims of Hurricanes 




The Lawrenceville Rotary Club also contributed to SVCC's effort by collecting and delivering a truckload of supplies.
