Gregory Reed

Gregory Reed grew up in Charlotte Court House, Virginia and graduated from Randolph-Henry High School.  He earned his Associate of Applied Science in Information Systems Technology from Southside Virginia Community College and completed the IT Academy at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center in partnership with SVCC in South Boston.

While in his last semester of classes, Gregory worked with AmeriCorps doing public services, which he found very meaningful and rewarding.  After graduation, he was employed by SVCC in the Information Technology department on the John H. Daniel Campus. Gregory is currently employed by Longwood University as a user support technician in the Information Technology Services Help Desk department.

In addition to plans to continue his education by completing a bachelor's degree from Longwood University, Gregory will also be seeking further industry certifications to advance his career.

Gregory wishes to share with current and future students, " Success really starts here at SVCC!!  My advice to students: Work hard, Come to class and ASK QUESTIONS!!! And remember HARD WORK PAYS OFF!!! The faculty and staff at SVCC were very interested in my success. They were there to help me whenever I needed it. One of the most important lessons I learned is that patience and commitment to your education pay off. Two years may seem like a long time when you are just getting out of high school, but those years are a very short period when you consider a career for the rest of your life that will make it possible to be happy and financially secure."
