SVCC Alumna Has Cool Job Surrounded by Books
"To me, the coolest part about my job is that I am exposed to all topics, from medical, government, international, every topic you can think of, so I get a diverse world of knowledge," said the new Director of the Meherrin Regional Library System, Becky Walker. Her cool job has her overseeing the Brunswick County Library in Lawrenceville and the Richardson Memorial Library in Emporia.

Center for Information Technology Excellence to Hold Open House
 This fall marks the opening of the Center for Information Technology Excellence (CITE) to prepare students for exciting careers in the Information Technology world. The lab located at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center in South Hill offers students realistic learning experiences in a simulated data center environment and prepares them to take CompTIA credentials (A+, Server+, Network+, Security+), industry standards. An

Governor Recognizes SVCC Power Line Grad
Governor Terry McAuliffe announced recently that, through the New Economy Workforce Credentials Grant program, Virginia's Community Colleges provided workforce training that enabled 2,173 Virginians to secure industry-recognized credentials, licenses, and certifications needed for high-demand careers, in the first year of the grant program.
The governor is shown recognizing Nate Humphrey, a recent SVCC Power Line Worker Training Program graduate and grant recipient.
