Principal's Message
Good afternoon,

Please take a close look at this week's newsletter and any separate announcements that have been communicated. There are many events to be aware of and a lot of information to read.

Yesterday, we made an announcement regarding our football and softball co-op head coach hiring. You can see the announcement here.

We have been communicating about 2 nd semester conferences and enrollment night. You can read that here.

We had a really good turnout for high school information night. Thank you for attending and for any follow-up questions or suggestions provided. We are busy with tours and shadow days for potential new students, both for this year and looking ahead to the fall. That is very exciting news!

Have a great weekend and keep hoping for that warm-up soon!

A MESSAGE FROM BRIAN KOTILA, LOYOLA BAND DIRECTOR
You are invited to attend the Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble this  Sunday February 11th at 3:00pm. We will be hosting the concert in the gym at Loyola ( 145 Good Counsel Dr). This is a fantastic group of musicians from the area that is made up of a wind range of professions - a great chance for students to see that they can keep playing after school even if they're not choosing music as a profession! The group will be performing music by Grainger, Nelhybel, Navarro and Margolis. We hosted this concert last year and had a fantastic representation of the Loyola community and we saw just how supportive of the arts we are, I would love to see that again this year!

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART- A MESSAGE FROM MR. STALOCH
We are kicking off our Jump Rope for Heart program in school on February 2.  This will included students in grades 3-5.  The American Heart Association supports your child learning about healthy nutrition and being active.  As your child participates in this program, they may wish to honor a family member or neighbor who is affected by heart disease. Your stude nt will learn that being healthy is fun and helping others is rewarding. If your family chooses to donate to this cause (optional), we hope that you will consider creating an online fundraising page through the school's Jump Rope for Heart page.  Follow these easy steps:

1. Go to www.heart.org/jump and search for Loyola Catholic School - click "Log on to fundraise" OR click this link to be taken to the page: http://www2.heart.org/goto/loyolacatholicschool
Not only are the students helping people with sick hearts, but our school will also earn gift certificates for physical education equipment.

Thank you for your support and if there are any questions please feel free to contact me,  Jacob Staloch if you have questions.

Seniors:  The Dollars for Scholars local website is now open.  Go to http://mankatoarea.dollarsforscholars.org to apply.  They give over 25 local scholarships ranging from $500-$1000.  Anyone who has at least a 2.5 GPA and over 40 hours of community service should apply as it is a lottery once the student has those 2 criteria.  There will also be two $1000 scholarships for Loyola students who attend SCC!!  In addition, there are academic scholarships.  ANY SENIOR WHO IS AT ALL INTERESTED IN SCHOLARSHIP MONEY SHOULD APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP.   Important tip concerning the application:  Under "Add an Activity",  choose "volunteer work" or "volunteer church work" (it is listed alphabetically) rather than "community service" or "church/religious" to list your volunteer work.  If you have done it correctly, at the end it will ask you for your grand total # of volunteer hours.  After you put the total in, be sure to hit the "submit app" button.
