We are excited to highlight the work of The
Maine Island Trail Association (MITA), a Maine based non-profit that is doing work in the Downeast and Cobscook Bay regions. MITA i
s a membership organization of boaters and environmentalists that has developed and managed America's first recreational water trail - the Maine Island Trail!
MITA's work also includes education about island ecosystems and small boat safety. We look forward to having MITA share their work with our 2016 BikeMaine riders!
This month the BikeMaine team hit the road for site visits in each of our amazing 2016 Host Communities. Each community is hard at work preparing to welcome our riders! Check out the
photo album from the trip and picture yourself there in September!

BikeMaine volunteers bond quickly and become a busy, crazy family all wrapped up in the shared vibe of a cycling adventure.
What advice would you give someone thinking about volunteering?
A BikeMaine volunteer experience is the most fun you are likely to have paying it forward. Don't be intimidated; just dive in and give it a shot!
