Full Speed Ahead

With 5 months to go before we roll into Winter Harbor for the start of BikeMaine 2016, the gears at the BikeMaine headquarters are cranking.

BikeMaine will be at BikeExpo NY, booth 314 (America's most attended consumer bicycle expo),  April 29 & 30. If you are going to be participating in the Five Boro Bike Tour or just happen to be in the NYC area, stop by and say hello!

After catching our breath a bit, we will be heading Downeast for the first of two site visits with each of our host communities(Winter Harbor/Schoodic Institute, Jonesport, Machias, Eastport, Lubec, and Milbridge).

While there, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be hosting a Community Spokes Training,  Wednesday, May 11th  in Machias from  9am-5pm. The Community Spokes Program creates a statewide network of bicycle and pedestrian advocates at the local level. Champions of better biking and walking (Community Spokes) receive advocacy training, education, and ongoing technical support.
Meet our Volunteers:
An interview with Jeanne Peckiconis

Jeanne helping direct riders during the inaugural ride in 2013.
Why did you decide to volunteer with BikeMaine?

Four years ago I saw an advertisement for BikeMaine (I have lived in Kennebunk, for the last 25 years) and I thought, "that's going to be a great event!" I wanted to be a part of it.

What volunteer jobs have you done for BikeMaine?

In 2013, I helped out for 3 days. I was on the Tent & Porter team, which meant putting up tents and taking them down everyday. It was FUN!  I've been back every year since, volunteering for the FULL week, helping staff the information booth, tent and porter service, meal service and more.

Be Bold (Coast Coffee)!

We are pleased to announce that  Bold Coast Coffee is the official coffee of BikeMaine 2016! Bold Coast Coffee features responsibly sourced beans from the finest Central and South American farms and is then small-batch roasted right in the Downeast region.

Bold Coast Coffee is even brewing a special Cyclist Blend. This new blend will launch during the first week of June and will be available to purchase online and in stores.
As if that isn't awesome enough, Bold Coast is going to donate $.50 from every pound sold back to BikeMaine to support better bicycling and walking in Maine! Look for the Cyclist blend starting in June.
