“Show me how to do that.”
How many times have you said that to someone? How many times has someone said it to you? There’s no way to answer these questions because we say this all the time, don’t we? Younger folks might ask older folks how to drive a car, especially a car with a manual transmission. (Do they even make those anymore?) Older folks might ask younger folks how to write a text message, and after the young’uns roll their eyes, they will feign patience while they walk you through the steps.
Whether you are trying to learn to be a better putter and sink more double-breaking 30 footers, or you are wanting to cook up tender, moist, and yummy filets on the backyard grill, you are smart to emulate someone who does it better than you do.
This is one reason that Jesus got so much attention. And still does. The way he lived life was special. He changed everything for a handful of people, and then other people who began to live the way he lived kept changing things. And they changed the world. Jesus—and they—did life better.
Sunday morning, we’ll take another look at who Jesus is. We’ll focus on the answer Jesus gives if we ask him, “Jesus, how do I live life?” Read Mark 1:16-20 and John 15:12-17, come to worship, in person or online, and hear this message: “Jesus Christ: Head of the Church – His Plan For Us.”
