Spring is Springing!

Looks like Punxsutawney Phil may have been right and spring is arriving soon! While we 'lost' an hour over the weekend, it sure is nice to have the daylight hours last just a bit longer. And warmer weather is on the horizion. We are excited to break out of hibernation with some upcoming events! This month's newsletter offers up plenty of chances to Spring into action!

Spring Luncheon

Tuesday April 9, 2024 | 12:30 pm - 2 pm

The Gardens Restuarant @ Penn Stater

Cost: $25

Join us for a delicious spread of assorted goodness as we gather for lunch at The Gardens Restaurant. We will hear from Amy Frank of The Makery of Central PA, one of our 2023 Grantees. Amy will be sharing a behind the scenes look at how this collaborative iniative came to life and the final results. This heart-warming success story provides a wonderful opportunity to engage a prospective member! Register today and please share with anyone who might be interested.

Afterhours @ Rooted Farmstead

Explore and enjoy the grounds and flowers and meet other members of Women United who share your commitment to the women and children of Centre County. Bring a friend who is interested in learning more about Women United! More details to follow! Learn more about Rooted Farmstead.

Afterhours @ CVIM

Mid-Late September | Date and Time TBD

We will hear from our 2023 Grantees at CVIM as they host us for an afterhours event with light refreshments. Tour their new facility, learn more about the services they provide and the needs they meet within Centre County. Look for more details in an upcoming newsletter.

Fall Luncheon -TBD

October | Date/Time/Location TBD

We are tentatively planning and coordinating a Fall luncheon to learn more about the PA Children's Roundtable Summit - an initiative from the Office of Children & Families in the Courts. This event depends on the availability of our potential speakers. Please stay tuned for updates!

Women United 2024 Grant Cycle

Thanks to your contributions we have $4,350 to distribute in the 2024 Grant Cycle.

Here’s how the Women United grant process works:

The focus of the grant is new projects that specifically support women and/or children.
Any nonprofit organization in Centre County can apply for the grant. It is not limited to CCUW Partner Agencies.
Applications are being distributed now and are due by May 3, 2024 at 5 pm.
Applications are submitted by organizations and reviewed (to ensure the application is complete) by the CCUW staff in April – May.
Interested Women United members will meet to review the applications and select recipients on May 31, 2024.
Organizations selected for grants receive the funds during the summer.
Representatives of the organizations meet with Women United members at an event the following year to share information about the impact of the grant.

CCUW Updates

Campaign Celebration: Gratitude Gift for Centre Care

Our 2023 Campaign Celebration was a success! All thanks to our amazing hosts at Centre Care, who donated EVERYTHING for the event! We are in the process of creating a unique thank you gift to show our appreciation. We would like to create word cloud art with all of the names of the attendees and some of their remarks about the evening. If you attended the celebration and want to be included in this special gift, please fill out the consent form below.

Funds Distribution Volunteers

Sign up to be part of the Funds Distribution Team to find out more about Partner Agencies and have a say in the allocation of funds to those agencies. We are still looking for a few more volunteers. If interested contact:
