Florida Power Library School
| |
HCMS is a FLORIDA POWER LIBRARY SCHOOL!
The Florida Association of Supervisors of Media (FASM) would like to congratulate Hunter's Creek Middle School on your designation as a 2024 Florida Power-Library School. The collaborative leadership of principal, library media specialist, and school community are crucial to student achievement, access to high-quality materials, and a successful library media program. The work you have done in the creation and implementation of a program of excellence continues to enable the staff and students of Hunter's Creek Middle School to excel in their academic lives through increased student achievement. This award designation recognizes your school’s commitment to supporting school, district, and state goals through the library program.
Ms. Moye adds: “It was a beast of a task to get surveys completed, make a portfolio, and complete an interview. I’m so thankful for the guidance I received from our team downtown, my teachers at HCMS who have made my vision of the HCMS library a reality, my library clerk for everything, and the support of my admin (especially Ms. Moukaddam). This is a school recognition that shows that the library program is part of the school, and I could never have done it alone!

Congratulations to the HCMS boys soccer team, led by head coach Anthony D’orsa, on their first win of the young season! The Eagles traveled to Meadow Woods on August 28th for a weather-delayed game against the Stallions. The score remained tied at nil until two minutes left in regulation, when 8th grader Esteban Leon settled the ball 20 yards out in front of the Meadow Woods goal. Esteban calmly deposited the ball into the upper right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead that HCMS would not relinquish. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles were not able to play because of the weather.
Congratulations to Coach Shatoya Coogle on her girls first soccer win of the season! The Lady Eagles beat South Creek 3-2 on a rainy, weather delayed Wednesday afternoon. Eighth grader Abrare Boulerhcha scored HCMS’ first two goals, but the Lady Wildcats tied the score at two soon after halftime. Eighth grader Zoe Avalos broke the tie with a goal late in the second half to propel HCMS to the victory. Coach Coogle’s girls play three games this week – Monday at Innovation; Tuesday at Meadow Woods; Wednesday at Lake Nona.
Coach Anthony D’orsa’s boys soccer team played to a 1-1 tie in the second half before the game was postponed due to lightning. Eighth grader Esteban Leon scored his second goal of the season for the Eagles. The boys have two games on the schedule for this week, both away games (Monday at Innovation; Wednesday at Lake Nona).
Go Eagles!
