SHRED EVENT at the Senior Center
Thurs., Feb. 6, 1-3 PM (or until shred truck is full)
Free Shred Event for Seniors (age 50+) to assist in shredding sensitive records and documents.
• Limit 4 boxes or bags per person
• No binders or paper clips
• Residential shredding only
A shred truck from Secure Records Solutions will be on site to shred sensitive documents to help prevent fraud, prevent identity theft.

Why Are There No Women Artists?

Art instructor Je’ Czaja’s student Ann looked up at her worriedly and asked, “Why are there no women artists?” Of course, there ARE women artists. Her question inspired Je’ to conduct deep research covering art from the Stone Age to the present and from all over the world. In this presentation, Je’ hopes to answer Ann’s question.

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Steinbeck's 1937 novella describes the experiences of two displaced migrant ranch workers as they move from place to place in California seeking jobs during the Great Depression and is based on Steinbeck's own experiences working along migrant farm workers in the 1910’s. The book appears on the American Library Association‘s list of the Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books. Instructor Kathy Allman will help us to understand elements such as theme, symbolism, and character development, as well as some of the notable passages. Join us for a robust discussion of this American classic.

Draw, Paint, Create: An Artists’ Forum
Wednesdays, Feb. 5 - Feb. 26 (4 weeks), 1 - 4 pm, on ZOOM
A friendly, safe and fun online forum for intermediate and advanced artists in all art forms, lead by Mark Fletcher, where everyone is encouraged to present their works for supportive and encouraging critique. Participants will discuss each work and provide suggestions to each artist. When appropriate, the instructor will provide context based upon historical and current techniques.

Soaring to New Heights!
After 28-plus years, Sheila Salyer is retiring at the end of February 2025. To celebrate Sheila’s extraordinary legacy and ensure TSC programs thrive and expand, the Foundation Board of Directors is raising $100,000 to support additional programs in our new, 40,000 square foot second Senior Center on Welaunee Boulevard. Construction is funded by the City of Tallahassee. Your contributions directly support expanding programs.

Learn how to square dance with the Capital Twirlers Square Dance Club!
Begin Mon., Jan. 27, from 7 to 8 PM and continue on Monday nights for the next 12-15 weeks in the Senior Center Auditorium.
Square dancing is a delightful energetic activity set to great music, requiring lessons to learn the steps. You will be laughing and want to keep on dancing. You’ll walk many steps, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes. (No crinolines or cowboy boots needed.) Contrary to our name, you will not get dizzy.
