Dear Members and Friends,

November serves as a timely reminder to reflect and give thanks. It was a year of challenges, including the difficult decision to implement an assessment. The MPOA Board is very aware of the added burden this could create during a time of rising expenses and did not make the decision lightly. The Board spent considerable time and effort managing resources and identifying areas of savings for the Beach Park restoration. We leveraged the expertise of the Board to launch in-house initiatives, including the development of a new website and newsletter, the implementation of online renewals, and the streamlining of membership management. As we head into our busy holiday season, I'm very pleased with the condition of the Beach Park while recognizing there is still a lot of work to do. I'm excited to share details of ongoing progress in the article below.

I'd also like to take a moment to share my gratitude for the MPOA community:

Our Members: Members are the backbone of the MPOA, providing essential financial support and creating a community within the Moorings. I appreciate your supportive response to the necessary assessment and your generous donations for the Beach Park restoration.

Our Beach Park: The natural beauty of Southwest Florida drew so many of us to Naples. As the area continues to develop, the MPOA Beach Park will stand forever as a protected open space and beach access for members and their loved ones.

Our Attendants: The Park Attendants are an integral part of the Beach Park. They keep the park safe and secure and are often the first to spot issues and suggest improvements. Please treat them with respect as you enjoy the Beach Park.

Our Board: They are dedicated volunteers whose investment of time and energy is done quietly and behind the scenes. This past year, they went above and beyond, completing important projects while saving the MPOA considerable funds.

Our City Partners: They are our allies in keeping the Moorings a safe and thriving neighborhood, and I thank all Naples city staff for their outstanding support. They regularly update us on important matters at MPOA Board meetings, and I look forward to hearing from Chief Dominguez, the new Chief of Police, at our December meeting.

Thank you for your support of the MPOA. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

See you at the Beach Park,

Cliff Holland, President MPOA

It's been a very busy Fall at the Beach Park. The renovation of The Porch, our accessible viewing deck, is complete. Thanks to Board Member Rick Freniere for leading this renovation. His efforts and tenacity saved a considerable amount of MPOA funds by repairing vs rebuilding The Porch.

The Porch, initially built in 2020, provides a shaded and elevated place to view the beach and enjoy the sunset. Although priority should always be given to members with mobility challenges, The Porch is open to all members for their enjoyment.

Park Restoration Progress Report: Pathways, Seating Areas, Chairs, and More…

Pavers and Pathways: Work has begun laying pavers for the new and expanded pathways and additional seating areas. This is an active construction site, so please move through the Beach Park with caution. Completion is expected by the end of November.

Furniture: New chairs, benches, and picnic tables were ordered once the threat of hurricane season passed and are expected mid-December. The furniture is made of long-lasting synthetic material.

Sod: Once the pathways are complete, the sod will be extended towards the beach another 20-25 feet.

Security Cameras: Security cameras are now operating.

RFID Stickers: The new RFID sticker rollout has begun with the 2024 membership renewals.

Bathroom Locks: The renovated bathrooms now have locks. The code is 2023, and on January 1st, the code will change to 2024.

Bike Parking and Trash: A bike rack is on order, and trashcans have been placed around the Park.

A direct and compelling headline

Naples Centennial Celebrated with Fireworks

The year-long celebration of the Naples Centennial is ending with a bang on Saturday, December 2nd. For the first time since July 4th, 2022, a fireworks display will be visible from Naples beaches after sunset.

Here are a few important reminders for our members who plan to view the fireworks at the Beach Park:

  • Due to parking space limitations, only members will have vehicle access. Vehicles with houseguest passes or renter passes will NOT be allowed access to the park.
  • Consider walking, riding a bike, or being dropped off at the park, as we have limited parking, and the lot will fill very quickly.
  • Bag your trash and take it home to prevent trash overflow as the city does not increase trash pick up for special events.
  • Pets are prohibited in the park and on the beach (as per Naples City regulations)
  • No smoking at the park or on the beach (as per Naples City regulations)
  • Use of firecrackers, fireworks of any kind, or sky lanterns are illegal in the City of Naples.

November Board Meeting Update

MPOA members, both in person and via Zoom, heard an update from Master Officer Jeff Perry of the Naples Police Department. In addition to providing crime prevention tips (lock your doors!) he informed us about the Naples Police Department App which provides a direct connection with the NPD for the latest community news and instant public safety notifications. To receive timely information on arrests or important alerts (i.e. road closures, hurricane, etc.) download the app and accept/permit notifications. When the NPD sends a notification, you’ll get an alert right on your phone.

Board members also provided reports on Park Restoration, Social, Waterways, Membership, and Financial. To view a video of the November 14th MPOA Board meeting, click here and use Passcode: cGT5!g^6

If all goes well, construction is expected to start around March 2024. The City Council has approved an agreement with the Collier Community Foundation that will allow people or organizations to donate to the Naples Pier Fund to help support the rebuild financially.

Learn more about the plans for a more resilient design and watch a video of the new pier design.
