SEPTEMBER EVENTS RECAP

Well, NWCA's The Sound LAB at Killiney Beach Jazz Cafe-Speak Easy seems to have landed on its feet. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this new concept for indoor live music....and our table ambassadors that worked hard to sell out the event, Judy Holt, Emily Johnson, Brad Riley, Barb Mulholland to name a few.

Getting traction for new events takes trust and enthusiasm and you all displayed that in spades. Anna Jacyszyn was her usual brilliant self, demonstrating that she IS a world class singer/entertainer, and her talented Trio kept her in the pocket all night long with a variety of tunes and styles. Wonderful job! Getting talent such as Anna cannot be had without the support of our local business sponsors.

Thank you to Ziola Home Designs, Grahame Mechanical - Plumbing & Gas, Schindler Electric Ltd. and EXP realty-Donna Steele for their financial contributions to make a night like this possible. Live music is alive and well thank you to businesses and hearts like theirs.

Mat O'Flynn, Sound Camel, I will climb a 12-foot ladder for you anytime! Your dedication to making this event look great (lighting) and sound great was unmatched.

Clayton Kam, Killiney Beach Builders, you promised a stage and created a wonderful platform for the event...it was perfect in every way. Thank you to Parker for helping to paint it....and Jeremy Simonson for his help too.

Miss Brandy Alexandra, you rocked the Martini Bar....and you gave us a wonderful box to host events like this by all your hours of dedication painting the hall and making improvements, volunteering many hours to make this happen. Thank you!

Andrea Kveton, thank you for the use of your beautiful Library that acted as the entertainer's Green Room. They expressed they felt the love of the community in those walls that you have lovingly placed your heart and soul. Thank you for sharing it for this event.

Jaimie Dewar, thank you for capturing the vibe for the night in your wonderful graphics on the website/newsletter...a picture paints a thousand words. Sept 16 Speakeasy | NWCA (nwcaonline.ca)

The finest kitchen associate/volunteers, Christina Seitz and Chisana Gardner...you worked so seamlessly to coordinate food/cash and table service...you stayed so cool when it was so hot. Lots of food compliments because of both of you. ...and it was fun to dance in the kitchen, like no one was watching, LOL.

Articles shared are posted on the NWFR Facebook Page.

Congratulations to Bogdan Savelyev for earning August firefighter of the month. Bogdan is always willing to work hard, take on new challenges and show new members the ropes. Bogdan also served some of highest hours during deployment fighting McDougall Creek Fire. Great work Bogdan!

North Westside Fire Rescue would like to thank Christina Willis for this beautiful art & gift. Christina is a local westside artist and created this artwork for the fire department.

We’re honoured and grateful for the support. What an incredible community we live in and we’re proud to serve it. Thank you Christina!!

North Westside Fire Rescue Members wore full turnout gear & took to the Fintry stairs climbing the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center where 343 firefighters died during 9/11.

Thank you to brothers and sisters that fought tirelessly and gave their lives that tragic and unforgettable day.
