Dear Friends and Family,

We are grateful to those who donated, making it possible to deliver the following groceries to 250 families in Chajmaic, as Hurricane Julia continues to deliver flooding, wreaking havoc in the eastern highlands of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala:

23 lbs. of corn

2 bags of mosh cereal

1 bottle of oil

1 bag of salt

3 lbs. of black beans

The rains can be so punishing, but thanks to Sowing Opportunities' sustainable agriculture, which is continuing in January 2023, the people's hopes are beginning to flower, giving them the strength to rise up toward the sun and to gain power over their own lives, to stand upright, to walk in the garden of a purposeful life, in touch with the power of the world.* (Mishkan T’filah, Shabbat)

Delivery of the groceries in large bags on October 16, 2022, to be sorted into bags for distribution.

We are grateful for your support! Donations have made Sowing Opportunities' work in the region possible.

Sowing Opportunities is returning to Chajmaic in January 2023 to begin the next phase with 30 new families to learn greenhouse sustainable agriculture, thereby addressing the hunger and economic needs of 20% of the village.
