Welcome to the start of the 2023-24 school year. The Graduate School (in conjunction with other offices on campus) is planning a set of events and activities to support your success this year. Spotlight: The LINC

Learn. Innovate.

Network. Collaborate.

The CSU Pueblo unveiled the newest space on campus set to support you in your learning, your networking, and your collaborations.


The Learn. Innovate. Network. Collaborate. Center (LINC) is a flexible teaching and learning space featuring customizable work space. With moveable screens and whiteboards to support hybrid group work, the LINC is the next-generation learning space.


And, it's here for you!


The LINC is staffed by student peer mentors who are available for scheduled or walk in tutoring; librarians provide research consultations. The Innovation Lab staff support technology projects, including 3-D and large format printing.

The LINC supports learning of professional skills, including:

  • Oral and written communication
  • Critical thinking
  • Creative thinking
  • Information literacy
  • Technical literacy
  • Problem solving and
  • Teamwork.

Graduate School Book Club Series

Join one of our two graduate student book clubs as we explore the hidden curriculum of graduate school. Decode the unwritten rules, discuss strategies for success, and navigate academia's nuances in a candid, safe, and engaging atmosphere.


BOOKS Will BE PROVIDED COMPLIMENTS OF OUR TITLE V OFFICE.

 

This book offers Latinx students a roadmap for succeeding in advanced-degree programs. Covering everything from navigating unwritten rules to building relationships and post-graduate career planning, the book provides essential insights and resources, catering to the unique experience of Latinx graduate students.


This book club is offered on campus on the following days from 5-6pm:

Sept 20th; Oct 11th; Nov 1st; Dec 6th.

Deciding to up-skill your career with a Master's or Doctoral degree is a big endeavor. While there are many things to learn in a graduate program, there are often times things that seem to be unspoken. This book uncovers what is known as the "hidden curriculum" in graduate school and this book can help you navigate unexpected pitfalls on this unfamiliar path.

Writing Center

The Writing Center, located in GCB 310, is a valuable tool for graduate students. The Writing Center can assist with formatting papers, copy editing, organization, APA, and abstracts. Hours of operation: 9am-4pm (M-F) and 1-3pm (Sunday).

Graduate School Work Study Position: Accepting Applications


The Graduate School has an opening for a Work Study position. You must have a FASFA on record and qualify for work study. Pay is $15-$24/hour. Responsibilities include office duties and administrative tasks including information collection and dissemination.

Scholarship and Grant Opportunities

Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship


Scholarship open to Hispanic nursing students (BSN to MSN, MSN, and DNP) and non-Hispanic nursing students who have an affinity for the health of Hispanic communities and are interested in participating in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities.


Awards of $5,000 annually for up to four years, as well as individual scholarship awards of $2,000 each.


U.S. Citizens, permanent lawful residents, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are eligible to apply.


Must be a member of the National Hispanic Medical Association.

American Association of University Women: International Fellowships


The International Fellowship program provides support for women pursuing full-time graduate study in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and who intend to return to their home country to pursue a professional career.


Recipients are selected for academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to women and girls. Recipients return to their home countries to become leaders in business, government, academia, community activism, and the arts or scientific fields.


Deadline: November 15, 2023.

Institute for Humane Studies


Through our Hayek Fund, graduate students and faculty can request support for expenses related to research on themes within the liberal tradition. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Grants are typically supplemental and are designed to offset a project’s total cost. Applicants will be notified of decisions within six weeks of submission.


Typical awards range from $500 to $5,000. Larger awards will be considered for exceptional projects. 


The following are common expenses supported by IHS. We also welcome uncommon requests. 

  • Travel for conference presentations and archival research
  • Research collaboration and hiring a research assistant
  • Journal submission fees 
  • Purchase of data sets
  • Book publication expenses (e.g. copy editing, indexing)


NOTE: Living expenses (e.g. rent), Hardware costs (e.g. laptops, printers), Tuition expenses, Salary support, and Retroactive expenses are not covered under this grant.

American Association of University Women: Career Development Grants


Career Development Grants provide funding to women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or re-enter the workforce in education; health and medical sciences; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); or social sciences.


Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.


Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents whose last degree was received before June 30, 2016. Funds are available for tuition, fees, books, supplies, local transportation and dependent care.

PPHOA Scholarship Application Now Open

CSU Pueblo's Fall 2023 PPHOA Scholarship application portal is open!


To be eligible, applicants must:

1.   be a traditional degree seeking graduate student (not in a 3+2 program) 

2.   be in good academic standing (for continuing students this means a 3.0 GPA or higher) 

3.   be enrolled in at least 3 hours of graduate credit hours

4.   be a domestic, residential instruction student

5.   document financial need via the FASFA, which will be verified by the Office of Financial Aid

 

The PPHOA scholarship award amounts vary by semester. The amount is determined by the funding available and qualifications of applicants. You will be notified by your official school email if you qualify.


Prior PPHOA scholarship awards do not immediately qualify you for this scholarship or future scholarships. If you are granted this scholarship, disbursement occurs to your PAWS account up to 4 weeks after you are awarded. If you receive this scholarship, you will need to sign required financial services documents listed in your PAWS account before the disbursement will be available to you. 


Other types of university scholarships and classification statuses may affect your ability to qualify for this scholarship determined by CSU Pueblo Financial Services.
