Hello Misty ,

Welcome to the May 12th edition of the Graduate School Newsletter. This edition spotlights one of our many highly accomplished alumni. Be sure you note the new section we've introduced below: Community Resources.

This will be the last Newsletter for this school year. We'll have more news for you in August! But, we will continue to send information to you (e.g., scholarship opportunities).

Spotlight on an Alumni: Antonio Huerta

Embracing Community: How Antonio Huerta's Journey at CSU Pueblo Led to Success

Colorado State University-Pueblo is proud to spotlight Antonio Huerta, an accomplished graduate of the Master of Business Administration 3+2 program (2016) and currently serves as the Southern Colorado Regional Director for U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper. Antonio's dedication and drive have led him to remarkable accomplishments in various industries, including politics, tribal business, and philanthropy. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of community support, which he experienced at CSU Pueblo.

In a recent conversation, Antonio emphasized the significance of community support during his time at CSU Pueblo, saying, "It takes a village," and how important it is to lean into the community. Antonio found solace in the CSU Pueblo community and the Pueblo community in general, despite the "lonely road" that pursuing a degree can sometimes be. He fondly remembers the guidance and support from Dr. Kristyn White Davis, Dr. Marie Humphrey, Todd Kelly, and many others during his journey.

In his current position he brings his skills in development, diversity & inclusion, excellence, and leadership to the forefront. Prior to his role with Senator Hickenlooper, Antonio worked as a Business Growth Associate with Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation, a diversified Native-owned family of businesses. Here, he supported the President, Board Member, and VP in growing the business and delivering value to customers and teaming partners.

As a student, Antonio displayed exceptional leadership skills, including his tenure as the Associated Students' Government President at CSU-Pueblo, where he led 24 students to make positive change on campus and improve student retention, campus collaboration, and student life. Antonio has also served as a Healy Fellow and Graduate Assistant at the Hasan School of Business, where he worked on projects that spurred economic development in southern Colorado.

Antonio's accomplishments are a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work, perseverance, and the support of a dedicated community, like the one at CSU Pueblo.

As we celebrate Antonio's achievements, we encourage current and future graduate students at CSU Pueblo to embrace the community and resources available to them. Together, we can continue to uplift one another and create a brighter future for all.
