Open Enrollment

October 28 - November 19 at 5 PM

Open Enrollment for faculty, staff, and health employees begins Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 8 AM. The enrollment period is open until Friday, November 19, 2021 at 5 PM. All Open Enrollment changes will be effective January 1, 2022.

Three will be Open Enrollment Help Desks available at the dates and times listed:

Friday, 10/29/2021: 2pm - 3pm

Wednesday, 11/3/2021: 12pm - 1pm

Thursday, 11/4/2021: 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Tuesday, 11/9/2021: 10am - 11am

Wednesday, 11/10/2021: 9am - 10a

Employees who are considering changing their medical plan may benefit from an individual consultation from a health plan expert. Click here to schedule a 30-minute phone consult with a UCSF health plan expert.

If you are not planning to make any changes to your benefits or enrolled family members and you are not planning to participate in a Flexible Spending account next year, NO Open Enrollment action is required.

2021 DPH Annual Compliance Training

100% completion of the 2021 ZSFG eLearning is the goal by November 1, 2021.

The Division is currently at 42% completion.

Access the SF Learning platform through the UCSF Dean’s Office at ZSFG website and click on the "SF Learning Login" button or log in to the DPH Staff Learning Portal to get started. You will need your POI number which you received via email. If you are a new employee, you should have received this information via e-mail from the DPH directly.

UCSF staff & student 5% discount at Safeway!

UCSF student and staff are eligible to receive a 5% discount card at Safeway. Simply show your UCSF employee ID badge at the Customer Service window. It can only be used for in-store purchases and some restrictions apply.

Do you have musical talent?

On December 15, 2021, the DOM will be hosting their second virtual DOM Holiday Party. They will be sending a save-the-date announcement and sharing the four event co-host names.

In the meantime, the event planners are looking for a few of our own personnel who may have musical or other talents that would be wonderful for all of us to experience. If you recall from last year, we had some amazing DOM musicians (including our very own Peter Hunt!) and a DOM-adjacent magician who wowed everyone.

Please let Justin know if you have a talent you would like to showcase.

Flu Vaccination Requirement

All UC employees are required to get a flu shot or opt out by November 19, 2021. Below are three highlights from the original message.

In addition, the University of California’s 2021-2022 flu vaccination executive order issued on October 8, 2021, requires all covered students, faculty, other academic appointees and staff to get a flu shot or opt out by completing a form after getting information about flu vaccine no later than Nov. 19, 2021.

If you receive your flu shot from UCSF, you will be sent an email confirmation within 48 to 72 hours, and the record is automatically submitted to UC. If you receive your flu vaccination from your own provider, please submit your record to flu@ucsf.edu.

If you decide to opt out of getting a flu vaccine, you must do so by completing a flu shot declination form posted on the OHS website.

This year, with COVID still circulating broadly in the community, it is more important than ever to ensure that everyone who can get a vaccine gets one as early as possible. Like last year, there is a SF Health Order mandating that all healthcare workers be vaccinated against the flu by October 31, 2021

Head down to the Cafeteria (Bldg. 5, 2D31, near Café 3) to get your flu vaccine, starting 9/27/2021! Flu shots will be available at the Cafeteria Monday through Saturday, 7:30am-4:00pm. Please bring your ZSFG badge when you come to the flu clinic.

This year, our goal is audacious: starting this week, vaccinate 90% of staff by October 31, 2021!

Additionally, UCSF also accepts outside flu shot records. If you receive your vaccination from your own provider, you can submit your record of vaccination to flu@ucsf.edu. Include your UCSF Employee ID number in the email when submitting.

RSVP to Attend Seminar Series, In-Person

The weekly seminar series will be hybrid for the foreseeable future. Please RSVP here if you would like to attend next week's seminar, in-person.

The current capacity is 22 people, but that is subject to change as new policies are announced. RSVP's will be cut off on the Monday of the seminar at 10 AM.

This form will be sent out weekly to allow everyone a chance to attend in-person.

AlertSF is a text-based notification system for San Francisco's residents and visitors. AlertSF will send alerts regarding emergencies disrupting vehicular/pedestrian traffic, watches and warnings for Citywide post-disaster information to your registered wireless devices and email accounts.

UCSF COVID-19 Policy

UCSF Recovery Operations Center has updated it's guidelines. Though our events at ZSFG follow more restrictive guidelines, in DEM, we are preparing for the return of in-person meetings through the following:

To maintain the required 50% capacity and/or 6’ of separation, please sit 1 person per table and/or space your chairs out in the room.
Email ExperimentalMedicine@ucsf.edu with names of people who attend your meetings in-person in case contract tracing is required.
We will return to posting the weekly meeting calendar outside the conference rooms so you can see when the room is unavailable.

To reiterate, the ROC has stressed that Business & Morale meetings should, to every extent possible, be conducted virtually.

It has been a while since we have had conference room reservations and a booking process. Please take a moment to review the DEM Conference Room booking information so that we are all following the same process.

DEM Pizza in the Park

The Quality of Life Committee invites you to come hang out and have pizza on Friday, November 5th at 12 PM in McKinley Square (across 101 and up the Vermont St. hill). The committee will provide food and beverages. If accessibility is an issue, please message DEM General so alternative transportation can be provided.

Feel free to bring a blanket or chair to sit on! We are excited to have everyone together and hope you'll be able to join us.
