Overdue for a Brew: Queen City Beer: Cincinnati Beer Past and Present

April 12

6:30- 7:30 p.m.

Cincinnati has a thriving craft beer scene today, but brewing in Ohio's largest metropolitan area is nothing new. Prior to Prohibition, Cincinnati was one of the brewing capitals of the country. As German immigrants came to U.S. shores in the nineteenth century by the tens of thousands, many settled in Cincinnati, and the city is referenced as one point in the so-called German Triangle along with Milwaukee and St. Louis. It's no coincidence these cities became synonymous with beer in America. Many of these German immigrants established breweries in Cincinnati, and some of these became among the largest in the country. Join us as we look at the history of brewing in Cincinnati and taste through excellent beers from some of its best modern craft breweries.

Overdue for a Brew: Mother Stewart's Brewing Field Trip

April 29

12:00 - 2:30 p.m.

Mother Stewart's Brewing Company operates out of an imposing brick structure in downtown Springfield that once housed the largest metal casket factory in the world, but the building is now a celebration of community life for this former manufacturing center. The industrial chic interior and expansive beer garden hosts live music and other events, and brews excellent beers designed to be enjoyed round after round with friends.

Join us on Saturday, April 29, at 12 pm, as we take a field trip to Mother Stewart's Brewing. You'll get to see their brewing system up close, listen in as Advanced Cicerone and beer writer David Nilsen interviews Mother Stewart's founder Kevin Loftis, ask the brewer questions yourself, and then enjoy a guided tasting of Mother Stewart's beers led by David. Tickets for this 2 hour private event are only $15, which includes the full tasting flight of beers. After the event, you are welcome to stay and enjoy more of your favorite Mother Stewart's beers and food from an on-site food truck! We hope to see you there.
