Carmel Family,

As a follow up to Pastor Brad's Sunday quote from HB Charles - "The world at its worst needs the church at its best" - our Table Talk email on Sunday challenged the Carmel family to ponder and discuss these questions:

What do you see in culture today that points to "the worst"?

How can the church be at its "best" in light of this?

We have two resources we believe can help as we process these questions.

First - Capable Compassion (beginning tomorrow!)
Dive deeper into learning to love others well through our 7-session seminar. Participate online or on campus. Details + video preview here

Second - our J-Term video library  Created by our Outreach team for Carmel Christian High School, the J-Term video library includes challenging and encouraging testimonials of loving and serving a broken world.
Highlights include -
  • Stephen Phelan of Movement Mortgage
    • Integration of Faith & Work
  • Hannah Arrowood of Present Age Ministry
    • Irrevocable - Saying Yes to God's Call
  • Alyssa Miller - Carmel Missionary in Thailand
  • Cara Strauss Contreras- Carmel Missionary in Bolivia
  • Present Age Ministries offered 2 sessions on human trafficking in our city (if you are a parent or in children's/student ministry, you'll want to watch these!) Click here for Session 1 or Session 2.
We hope these resources both encourage and challenge you as you strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus this week.

- The Carmel Team

P.S.
Are you registered? Sacred Assembly - a time of guided prayer, confession and worship - is this Sunday at 5:00pm!  We're asking ALL who will participate - either online or on campus - to register here. On-campus childcare registration closes tomorrow (2/17).

Praise...
Praise for the staff and teachers at our partner schools, Lansdowne and Merry Oaks Elementary, who have been encouraged by gifts and notes from the Carmel family. Here's one of the thank you notes we received:

I want to give a sincere thank you to you and everyone at Carmel Baptist for all you do for us teachers and staff at Lansdowne. This has been quite an interesting school year, and you all have done so much to make us feel loved and appreciated!
- Morgan R, 3rd Grade Teacher

Pray for CMS students, teachers and staff as schools begin to reopen. There will be significant catch-up required for many.

If you're looking for more ways you can help, Merry Oaks Elementary is in need of volunteer proctors this spring. Email [email protected] for more information.
