Upcoming Online Worship
Sun Jan 3, 10:00am ~ “Intention
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon

Spiritual literature of any tradition is apt to mention that our perception of being in control is a delusion. At the same time, intention matters. "Intention" is our theme of the month for January.
Sun Jan 10, 10:00am ~ “Some Philosophy about Being Good
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon

Every so often I like to dust off my philosopher chops, mix a few metaphors, and see what might be said. This time, a look at how philosophers think about the project of being good. A certain pop-culture reference or two is likely.

“Preludes” would seem to be pieces with a sense of intention; they are pieces with a destination, pieces on a mission to introduce something else. Indeed, for centuries, preludes have functioned as improvisatory-sounding warm-ups for more formally structured fugues, as in the two volumes of Preludes and Fugues of J. S. Opportunities for Giving Continue

Collection of New and Used Items for Grace Church, Now through Sun Jan 10, Drop off at CUUC
In December, Ray Messing packed several carloads with donated items and delivered them to Grace Church for their outreach program. We thank everyone who contributed! Winter continues after the holidays, and so does the need for warm clothes. Ray will continue to pick up new items (underwear, socks, gloves, hats, toiletries) and gently used winter clothing for our neighbors served by Grace Church. Please call Ray (914-592-4497) when you drop off a donation. Place items outside CUUC's doors, using our bins for small new items, and plastic bags for clothes. We must keep New and Used items separate! Please use large white plastic bags and clearly mark "Used" or "New." Contact: Ray Messing (914-592-4497).

From the Treasurer

We rely on everyone's pledges, which account for more than half our total income, to continue the work of supporting one another and our community. Help us meet our budget by pledging generously, as you are able. Give your pledge confirmation to Chris Kortlandt (treasurercuucwp@gmail.com, 917-821-4289). Click here to read the full treasurer’s message.
Caring & Sharing

If we can help you or someone you know in our congregation, reach out to Barbara Mair (barbara.k.mair@icloud.com, 914.391-5382) or Joan Traber (joantraber@yahoo.com, 914.617-9622). You may also contact the CUUC office (admin@cucwp.org).
Share the Plate for January: Interfaith Council of New Americans of Westchester
This month we donate half our non-pledge collection to the Interfaith Council for New Americans of Westchester (ICNAW), a coalition of local congregations that welcomes refugees resettled into our area. ICNAW is providing financial and logistical support now to three families locally and a fourth upstate. It has truly taken a village of volunteers to enable and empower these resettlements. Click here to learn more, or contact Robin Rocchi (robinandal@verizon.net) or Jane Dixon (lilrhodie@gmail.com). Mail checks to CUUC with the memo "Share the Plate - ICNAW" or click here to pay online, and select "Share the Plate."
