What's Going On At Grace

May 26 - Last Sunday School til the fall

June 2 - Summer Worship Schedule begins (10am)

Many of these events have more details in other sections. This section is updated each week, so keep checking in. You can also see the full church calendar HERE.

We're updating the Grace Pictorial Directory-

THIS WEEK!

A current pictorial directory (a booklet with our households' names and photos) is a great asset as we work to increase our congregational connections - one of our Strategic Initiatives!

Bob Goodbar is sharing his photography skills with us and taking household photos on May 22, 23, 24, and 25 in the Nursery.

We'd love to have every Grace household in our directory!

On May 22, 23, and 24 (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) there will be photography slots every 10 minutes from 3pm-7pm.

On Saturday May 25, there will be slots every 10 minutes from 9am-1pm

The backdrop for the photos will be black. We recommend solid colored clothing, and to avoid small or swirling patterns.

Please review the available times HERE and sign up!

If you need assistance signing up,

please contact the church office.

If you're interested in having a photo made for the directory, but can't make any of these days and times, please let Pr. Rachel know. We may have a make-up day, or we may invite you to supply your own household photo.

We can't wait to see your faces in the directory!

Thank you!

We celebrate with 9 of our Confirmands as they made their Affirmation of Baptism this past Sunday!

We will also celebrate Affirmation of Baptism with Cameron on June 2nd!

We welcome Laura, David and Darcy Brenneman to our Grace Family!

Laura and Dave are looking forward to participating in life at Grace!

Their daughter, Darcy (2), will be an exciting addition to our younger generation.

Laura and Dave both grew up in Connecticut but met later, due to their professions. Dave works at Piedmont Medical Center and is a colleague of Rick Richter.  Laura is a nurse, and at this time, she is enjoying being a stay at home mom with Darcy.

They started attending Grace in 2022. Everyone they met was very welcoming, and the structure of worship service and general "feel" of being at Grace was very similar to that of their previous Lutheran and Methodist churches.

They love to travel, spend time outside and with their family and friends in the area. One of their favorite recent trips was to Switzerland. Fun facts – Dave is a pilot and they have both enjoyed skydiving!

They are looking forward to learning more about opportunities to become involved with Grace and to meet more of the congregation.

We welcome Barb and Bill Beers to our Grace Family!

Barb and Bill were active in their previous Lutheran churches and are eager to continue service here at Grace.  They met in college and have led an interesting life in the Air Force where Bill was a KC135 pilot. Once retired, they moved to Akron, Ohio, then eventually moved to Rock Hill in 2007. While in Akron, they were both very involved in their church where Bill was Council president.

Their son and family live in the Boston area. They have twin grandchildren who are active in mission work and other activities.

Barb and Bill are members of the American Boating Club and have been active for many years with that organization.  They have a boat on Lake Wylie. Bill has reached out to our Scout troop at Grace, as he has also been very involved with scouting over the years.  They are interested in helping with youth and have an interest in being on the Youth Committee.  They are regular participants in Seniors@Grace and have enjoyed the camaraderie there.

Reading, especially historical novels, is a common passion. They have taken many historically based trips to learn more about our country.

Seniors@Grace

Seniors@Grace will host our very own Walker Stockley as our guest and BBQ master as he caters our next event on May 23. He will also share with us helpful hints and reminders on food safety. Come and join us for good food and fellowship. You are welcome no matter your age you just need to like yummy BBQ. We meet at 11:30 am with lunch at 12 noon.

Please RSVP by May 21st to Annie Laurie Wheat at 803 517-0626 or by email at wheatannielaurie@gmail.com

VBS Registration is Open!

June 17-21 + 9am-12pm

We are so excited to bring VBS back to Grace!

In this great week, we'll dive deep into an amazing undersea adventure where we'll experience the ever-flowing, never-ending love of God.

Grace VBS is for kids 3 years old* - entering 6th Grade.

Older youth are invited to volunteer!

*Children must be potty-trained, or otherwise have an adult stay on site to take care of diaper/ pull-up changing.

We have many opportunities available for volunteers of all ages and interests! We are especially looking for volunteers to be Crew Leaders - those who lead the children through VBS and encourage them on the way!

All our volunteers will be trained according to the Grace Child Protection Policy, which can be requested from the church office.

If you have any questions about participating or volunteering, please contact Pr. Rachel here.

We can't wait to see you at SCUBA VBS!

Beginning June 2nd, we will switch to our summer worship schedule of one combined worship service at 10am! This summer schedule will run through June and July.

We look forward to worshiping all together this summer!
