Outreach

Partnerships

The Grace Outreach Partnership Grant Program is a grant-and-grow opportunity led by our Grace Outreach Committee. Each year, we award grants to local non-profits whose missions align with where we feel the Spirit calling Grace to go in this year.

This program's biggest hope is that by pairing a financial grant with a commitment for Grace to connect with the organization - through learning experiences, tours, volunteer opportunities, and more - our members would discover more about what's happening in the community and perhaps find a ministry they feel especially called to support!

Over the last 3 years, we've had great success! A number of Grace members have found joy in connecting with our partners, like HOPE, Bethel Men's Shelter, and Life House Women's Shelter, and we anticipate more connections in the coming year!

We are excited to share that in 2024, we have three partner organizations!

Our first partnership opportunity is with Habitat, and is in memory of Grace member Earl Gatlin.

Habitat is currently restoring a home on Confederate Ave and has named it the Earl Gatlin Better Together Build. Grace is invited to come on April 27th and participate in the restoration. This day will mainly include indoor painting, but outdoor skills are also welcome!

We will be sharing specific details about how to take part in this project, including how to sign up, in next week's enews.

Our vision is to be a community leader that exceeds industry standards of care, pursues innovative practices, and equips youth and families to achieve healthy independence and sustainable success."

CAH is hosting an open house TOMORROW, April 12, from 9am-1pm. Grace will have our own opportunity to visit CAH, but if you're interested, stop by tomorrow!

Bob Schavey presents a check to Sharon Floyd, founder and Executive Director, and Robert Floyd, Community Engagement Manager, of Better Bound Bookstore. Community member Sandra Oborokumo is also pictured.

From BBBS: "We believe youth development programs do more than just change the lives of the kids – they also impact the community in positive ways. According to a review done by the U. S. Department of Human Services, ‘there is a clear link between the kind of society we aspire to be and the chances we offer to our next generation of voters, citizens, employees and parents,’ which put a particular emphasis on the benefit of programs offered to young people outside of school and within their communities. Other studies in the US have shown how young people can be ‘active participants in solving problems and providing services at the community level’ and recognize young people as competent ‘community builders. Non-profit organizations offering youth development programs can positively impact the economy, increase community engagement and offer solutions for communities that other entities may not be able to provide.

At Better Bound, young people “DO THE WORK” to change their lives and their communities. This program is focused on actively conquering obstacles that are preventing our youth from reaching their full potential and teaching them the importance of community."

In the coming weeks, we will share more about opportunities to meet our partners, including visits at Grace and/or at their locations, and opportunities to get connected to serve!

Thank you for your support of the mission at Grace, which allows us to offer these partnership grants and to be faithful partners in ministry!
