Fiscal Year 2024 Data Standards Updates

Data Standards Updates Have Taken Effect!

HMIS Data Standards have officially been updated! Users will see that some language options have been changed, new Data Elements have been added, and Data Elements have been retired.


New HMIS Changes include:


  • Combination of Race & Ethnicity, Multi-Select options, and Additional Detail section
  • Update to language in Gender and Multi-Select options
  • New Data Element "Translation Assistance Needed"
  • SSN will only require the last 4 Digits (Still great if you can get the client's full SSN!)
  • PSH Projects Only: New Required Data Element "Sexual Orientation" for HOH & retiring Wellbeing
  • Exit Destination options "with ongoing subsidy" will have a follow-up question
  • Client Location will change to "Enrollment CoC"
  • Retiring Last Permanent Address
  • Language Change from "Client Refused" to "Client Prefers not to Answer"

Updated Data Collection Paper Assessments

Revised Data Collection Paper Assessments have also been updated as a result of the Data Standards Changes.

  • Saturday, September 30th Annual Privacy Training Deadline
  • Sunday, October 1st: New HUD FY24 Data Standards Take Effect
  • Tuesday, October 10th: Systems Updates Meeting
  • Wednesday, October 18th: Monthly Training
  • 10/20: Training for HUD Reporting
  • Monday, October 30th: DQ Submission Deadline for 10/1/22 - 9/30/23 Data
