Tri-State Development Regional Statistics and Insights on Housing
The current housing inventory crisis is a pressing issue that affects communities across the country. With a shortage of available homes, prospective buyers are facing fierce competition and skyrocketing prices, while renters are struggling to find affordable options. This crisis is not only a national burden, but it also has a significant impact on local communities in the Tri-State Region. As we work together to seek solutions that will increase housing inventory and promote affordability, let's explore what being at home in the Tri-State Region looks like.

TRI-STATE SPOTLIGHT
HOW MOBERLY, MO IS TACKLING THE HOUSING CRISIS
Moberly, Missouri, is tackling the rural housing crisis through collaborative private-public efforts, and it's getting results. Not unlike other small towns throughout the country where a lack of adequate housing stifles growth, Moberly needs affordable housing. The "Magic City," a nickname given to Moberly early last century when it grew explosively while serving as a railroad hub between St. Louis and Kansas City, is making significant progress.

Wide Open Spaces: Preserving Affordable Housing in Rural America
Did you miss Up For Growth's April webinar on Housing Underproduction?

Description: Underproduction and housing scarcity now impact nearly every community in the United States, including more rural or exurban communities. However, the problems faced by less dense municipalities are very different from those faced by urban centers. With a focus on preserving affordable housing and combating blight, rural communities often have difficulty attracting the investment necessary to manage and maintain their housing stock. For this month’s webinar, please join Up for Growth and a panel of experts to discuss how rural communities are working to solve their housing crisis and the unique barriers they face.

New Privately Owned Housing Units Authorized by State
The Census Bureau recently released an interactive tool that shows the number of building permits issued for new residential construction.

Evaluating the trends in new residential permits is crucial to understanding both the current and future market.

Since permit issuance is the first step in any new residential construction project, the Building Permits Survey (BPS) data is an early indicator of future residential construction activity.

The new tool allows users to follow changes in data over the past few years and to drill down to more detailed data and geographic areas.
