Finding Freedom Summer Traveling Exhibit Comes to the Library

The Tipp City Library is proud to host the Finding Freedom Summer Traveling Exhibit. This exhibit was created by Miami University Libraries faculty and staff and handles topics such as the civil rights movement, racial injustice, and civil unrest. While the exhibit focuses on educating grade school students, the content is just as engaging and informative for adults as well. The exhibit is composed of twelve panels educating through documentary photography and tells the story of 800 volunteer college students registering black voters in Mississippi in 1964. The exhibit will be on display in the two front windows of the first floor of the library from April 24 - June 17. To schedule a tour, email info@tippcitylibrary.org or call the library at 937-667-3826.

New Early Learning Station Added to Library

Thanks to a grant from the Ohio Department of Education, the library has purchased 4 new AWE Learning Computers for children and they will all be ready for summer learning.

AWE Learning computers give children access to over 175 educational titles for ages 2-12, on a fun and engaging interface.  There is content in science, technology, reading, engineering, math, art, and music. The games do not require any special login and children can not access the internet from these computers.  They can be used as a touchscreen or by using a mouse.

We encourage parents to bring their children to the library this summer to try the games on these computer stations to help kids review the skills they learned in school this year.  It’s a good way to “trick” them into learning! There are also two learning computers in the Teen area with games for older elementary children.  Ask a librarian how to filter the game selections to get just the type of learning your child needs.

Upcoming Programs for 6th-12th Grade Youth

Attention Teens 14-18 Year Olds - Tipp City Library Needs You!

Tipp City Public Library is looking for volunteers to help with the Summer Library Program from June 1- July 31.  We are willing to work around summer vacations and summer camps, so you can help out for a couple of weeks, one month, or all summer for 2-4 hours per week.

It’s a great work environment- air conditioning, casual dress, fun people, variety, no stress!  We prefer volunteers who are comfortable working around children, follow directions well, and catch on to new things easily.

Fill out a VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM on the Teen webpage, or pick one up at the library and turn it in at the Teen check-out desk. Please submit your applications by May 27.
