Tipp City Library Receives Humanities Grant
Tipp City Public Library has been selected as one of 200 libraries nationwide for the American Library Association’s American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries opportunity, an emergency relief program to assist libraries that have been adversely affected by the pandemic. Tipp City Library will use the grant funds to create new programing for adults and children as well as to bring an important interactive exhibit to our community.

One of the new programs grant funds are allocated to is Aperture, a film appreciation series in which participants will stream a selected classic movie and then take part in a virtual discussion. In addition to new programming, Tipp City Library has also been selected to host an interactive exhibit focusing on the history of structural racism using redlining maps and how we as a community can undesign those systems.

American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Aperture: A Discussion of His Girl Friday
Monday, April 4

Movies have a way of capturing our imagination and lodging in our memory like no other popular art form can.

April's selection is His Girl Friday, a witty and fast-talking screwball comedy from 1940 directed by Howard Hawks and starring Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, and Ralph Bellamy. The film follows a newly engaged newspaper reporter (Russell) and her editor and former husband (Grant) as they try to free a man from death row. All the while, Grant's character is trying to win her back.

His Girl Friday is available to be streamed for free on Kanopy (details available on the library website). Register by filling out the linked form, and you can either come to the library at the time of the event to participate in person, or connect virtually. Details will be sent to you.

We hope to see you there!
