Join us on September 16th for part 3 of a 4 part series.

Homegoing Community Conversation 3: Moving Forward Towards U.S. Reconcilliation

In this online session, we will explore the current U.S. climate of racial reckoning and the individual and community steps we can take to move us forward toward racial reconciliation. We will examine systemic barriers discussed in Homegoing that might influence potential actions and change.

Tiffany Taylor Smith, Assistant Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, and Dr. Leslie Picca, Professor of Sociology, from the University of Dayton will co-facilitate this conversation with Drew Wichterman, Adult Services Librarian, from the Tipp City Public Library.

This event was made possible by the American Library Association: Libraries Transforming Communities Grant, Tipp Foundation, and Tippecanoe Educational Endowment.
A Zoom link will be sent to you a few days before the event.

Registration is required.

This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of Ohio.
Events Planned for the Whole Family
We’re excited to announce our fall schedule of IN-PERSON storytimes and September family programs to be held IN THE LIBRARY! Please read the information below about the special precautions we are taking to keep kids and families safe.

Early Fall Storytime Sessions
Registration for the Early Fall Storytime Session will begin on Tuesday, September 7th at 10:00 a.m. You can go to the “Children’s Program” tab on our website and find links to each class’s registration form to sign-up online, or call the library and a staff member will assist you with registration.
We are limiting attendance at each storytime to twelve children and an adult guardian. Because class size is being kept small, we will repeat the storytime twice for toddlers and preschoolers to accommodate our regular number of participants. We are asking that other adult guests or children NOT attend the storytime, if at all possible.
Adults will be asked to wear a mask while at storytime. The room will be set up for social distancing between families when we sit down for storytime. We will have hand sanitizer available at the play stations and at craft time for anyone that wants to use it. Individual craft packets will be made so children will not have to share materials with other families.

Preschool Storytime- Thursdays, Sept. 23, 30, and Oct. 7 & 14, at 10:15-11:00 AM and 11:15-12:00 PM with Miss Julie. This class is for children from ages 3-½ to 5 years old.

Toddler Storytime- Wednesdays, Sept. 22, 29, and Oct. 6 & 13 at 10:15-11:00 AM and 11:15- 12:00 PM with Miss Heidi. This storytime is for children ages 18-42 months.

Baby Cuddle Time- every other Friday starting Sept. 24 (Sept. 24, Oct. 8 & 22) at 10:30-11:00 AM. This storytime is for children ages 6-18 months. Baby storytime will be held in the Meeting Room every other Friday with Miss Heidi. There will be short stories and songs followed by a brief playtime where babies can explore their surroundings and make new friends while the adults enjoy some adult conversation. Miss Heidi will provide you with a play-pack of activities to do at home on the weeks in between our storytime sessions. This storytime is limited to ten children and their adult caregivers. At this time we are discouraging older siblings from attending.

Tuesday Night Is for Family Engagement
Families with children from preschool-age through Grade 3 are invited to attend two Family Nights per month. Parents and guardians will be actively involved with their children in activities that help parents learn how to challenge your children. Activities will vary from month to month, but there will always be fun things for family discovery including hands-on activities and crafts based on a theme. Some weeks will feature STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math learning), while others will include games, presenters, or holiday celebrations. Here’s what’s coming up in September:

Curiosity Day with Curious George, Sept. 14 from 6:30-7:30 PM
Celebrate the magic of discovery and learning just like Curious George does in all your favorite books and television shows. There will be stations set up around the Meeting Room downstairs for families to explore and things to make. Families can come anytime between 6:30-7:30 and try out the activities at their own pace. We will monitor the number of people in the room at one time to allow for social distancing. No registration is necessary.
