COACHING: WINDOW WITH A VIEW

July 2021
The Pennsylvania Key Coaching Team welcomes you to another edition of Coaching: Window with a View. We invite you to engage and respond to questions posed as well as sharing exciting and insightful resources that facilitate reflection and critical thinking.
Expectations

I’ve been giving some thought lately as to my expectations around coaching. Sometimes I think I set myself up for disappointment because I put pressure on myself to make something magical happen during every coaching interaction.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes magical things do happen, and I need to remind myself, it’s not going to be every time, and it has nothing to do with me.

You may remember the idea of humility from June’s newsletter edition. Focusing too heavily on the skill set and not enough on the mindset gets me into trouble every time.

What expectations might you be placing on yourself that could be limiting your coaching conversations?

Food for thought: are your expectations preventing you from being more “coach-like” in your interactions?

I have discovered, a key part of coaching is working on my own personal growth and development. I challenge you to let go of your expectations, open yourself up to the possibilities, and see what happens. You never know, you may even discover a little magic every once in a while. I’d love for you to share what you notice at barwil@pakeys.org
