D2L Archive Reminder Before Sunset
Please remember that D2L will be going away as of June 30, 2020.

Because of this, D2L has been archived dating back to the last two academic years. While the content has been saved, it is still important to make sure you have everything you need from the LMS before the final access date!

For more information on the D2L archive, please visit our FAQ page .

If you need any content from the learning management system before it is officially retired, you must contact Innovations in Learning prior to the June 30 deadline. You can contact Innovations in Learning by emailing innovations@uwp.edu .

Canvas Feature Update: Manual Grade Posting Policy
Canvas has updated a grading feature to allow for manual or automatic grade posting. Here's an excerpt from the Canvas Guides:

"If you select an automatic posting policy, students can see assignment grades as soon as they are entered in the gradebook. Anonymous and moderated assignments cannot be set to post grades automatically.

If you select a manual posting policy, assignment grades remain hidden from student view by default until you post grades for the assignment. If you select a manual course posting policy after assignment grades have already been entered, the policy will not apply retroactively and any posted grades will remain visible. You can  hide posted grades from the assignment's Options menu . Additionally, when assignment grades are hidden, students cannot see their assignment grade, instructor comments, or grade change notifications. However, instructors can post comments to students before grades are entered."

To read the full guide entry and learn how to setup a manual grade posting policy in your own course(s), visit the Canvas Guides .
Adding Escape Rooms to Your Online Course
Escape rooms have made their way to classrooms across America, but one innovative instructor has developed a virtual version for her online courses.

Beth Ritter-Guth, associate dean of Online Learning & Educational Technology at Northampton Community College created an online version of the popular escape room concept for her online students.

To create the content for the escape room, Ritter-Guth uses tools like Thinglink and Padlet. As far as grading is concerned, Ritter-Guth awards points in a "leaderboard" fashion which encourages students not to share answers. She also doesn't award points for technical proficiencies as much as she give students credit for the writing they do as they solve the room.

To read the full article from Campus Technology and even check out a mini example of an online escape room, visit the website here .

And who knows, maybe an online escape room will pop up in a future newsletter for faculty and staff to try and solve!
