Canvas FAQs and Important Information
The Innovations in Learning team has created a Canvas FAQs page that houses all of our important, Canvas-specific information.

The FAQ includes information on questions like "when will my live course get added to Canvas?" And "How do I make my sandbox visible to students?" (spoiler alert: you don't.)

Please consult the FAQ page if you have any questions while you're getting ready for the Fall 2019 semester!

As always, feel free to email us with any additional questions at innovations@uwp.edu .

Looking for student resources?
We also have an Online Student Resources course available to all students through self-enrollment. This course has information on Canvas, NetTutor, Library resources, Collaborate Ultra, Kaltura, and more. It's a great resource for all students, with special care taken to support fully-online students. The self-enrollment link is available on the Canvas logins page.

Note: Live courses come into Canvas 30 days prior to the start of the semester. Keep an eye out for them given we're in the 30-day window. Please remember, the integration process takes a full day, so some courses may come in during the morning and some may not be in Canvas until the evening.
New Innovations in Learning Website and Services
The Innovations in Learning website is newly redesigned and has a ton of information about services offered by the team.

Visit the services page to find out more about what we offer, including instructional design, instructional technology integration, video production and editing, and more. If you want to make something for your course, we're always willing to help you bring that vision to life.

This is also the place to go if you're looking for the various workshops and trainings that the Innovations team is hosting throughout the semester.
Book A Session in Our Brand New Interactive Video Studio!
Innovations in Learning has been busy this summer creating a multimedia room for instructional use. The room features high-end camera equipment and video editing software. The suite is designed for recording lectures and welcome videos.

In addition to the camera and editing equipment, Innovations also purchased a glass light board. This technology allows instructors to demo on the board while also lecturing to students. The camera's technology flips the image on the board so it's readable both to the instructor writing and the students watching the video.

Check out our quick preview, and email Innovations@uwp.edu if you're interested in learning more about the board or booking some recording time over the semester!

The space is also available for high-end welcome videos and other lecture captures, with or without the glass light board.
NetTutor now integrated with Canvas
NetTutor is now fully integrated with Canvas and is available on every single course navigation bar in Canvas, including the  Student Resources Course .

If you do not plan on using Canvas to teach this Fall, you may want to suggest that your students self-enroll into the Student Resources Course so they still have access to NetTutor should they need it. (Note: this course also has student-facing documentation on Canvas, Kaltura, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, and more!)
IiL team attends Distance Teaching & Learning Conference in Madison
As we continue to strive towards i nnovative thinking at UW-Parkside, the Innovations team attended the 35th annual Distance Teaching & Learning Conference this past August. Many of the topics discussed at the conference will be presented at workshops this academic year. Topics covered a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to: facilitating genuine communication in online courses, best practices for assessment, faculty communities of inquiry, and more.

Many of the sessions, including the three keynote sessions, were recorded and available for online viewing. If you would like to access the recordings, please contact Innovations in Learning, and someone on the team can get you the login information and password.
Growth of online courses at Parkside over last six academic years
The number of online courses at UW-Parkside went up 57% last academic year, from 332 online courses in 2017-18 to 521 courses in 2018-19.

Another increase is expected this academic year.

Below is a chart depicting the growth of online offerings. Please note, this is only for fully online courses, not hybrid or blended courses.
