Tip of the Week

ďťż

Recognize the Onset of Procrastination

As you start to tackle items on your list, pay attention to when thoughts of procrastination start to creep into your mind. If you find yourself thinking "I don't feel like doing this now" or "I'll have time to work on this later," then you need to recognize that you are about to procrastinate.

Eliminate Distractions

Assign yourself a period during which you turn off all distractions—such as music, television, and social networking sites—and use that time to focus all of your attention on the task at hand.

Reward Yourself

Once you have completed a task (or even a small portion of a larger task), it is important to reward yourself for your efforts.

Congratulations to our winners!

We just ended the Blind Date with a Book campaign and want to recognize these LSC students who won the Candy Hearts raffle by checking out a “blind” book!

Your Voice Matters!

Lone Star College Redistricting Community Forums

Please join the Lone Star College Board of Trustees as they host a series of community forums to gather public commentary concerning the College’s ongoing redistricting efforts.

What is Redistricting?

Redistricting is the process by which the boundaries of elective districts (e.g., single-member districts) are periodically redrawn in response to changes in population. Lone Star College System is currently divided into nine single-member districts.

Why does the College Redistrict?

Every ten years, the U.S. Census data is published including the most recent population statistics. Texas Education Code Section 130.0822 (a) and (k) requires a school board to re-divide single-member districts “if the census data indicates that the population of the most populous district exceeds the population of the least populous district by more than 10 percent.”

Community forums will take place both virtually and physically across the College. Please scan the attached QR code to register for virtual sessions. Visit LoneStar.edu/Redistricting for meeting details and to learn more about the redistricting process.
