SUMMER HIRING OPPORTUNITIES, MEN'S HEALTH AND FITNESS IN THE PARK.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month! The Employee Benefits Office and Cigna Healthcare have teamed up to help all employees improve their mental health by providing helpful information every week this month. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, this week’s focus is anxiety, which is the most common mental health disorder in America.
Anxiety: Don’t Go It Alone!

Anxiety is your body’s natural reaction to stress and is usually short-lived. Many feel anxiety before taking a test or preparing for an interview. However, when anxiety is ongoing or interfering with your daily life, something needs to be done. Cigna’s “Don’t Go It Alone" explains anxiety and possible treatments. For more detailed information, visit the Anxiety & Depression Association of America or the US National Library of Medicine.
Find resources for anxiety, stress & COVID-19!

Anxiety and stress have been exacerbated with COVID-19. Although our world is getting back to normal, we are not there yet, and the effects of COVID-19 on many individuals and families will be long-lasting. Since anxiety is often a result of stress, finding healthy ways to alleviate stress is vital. The CDC offers numerous tips on coping with stress. Moreover, they offer a wealth of valuable social support resources, including resources for those in crisis. Also, check out this flyer from Cigna with additional social supports.
Take a Mental Health Screening today!

Do you need a mental health checkup? Are you suffering from mental health issues in silence? Online screening is a quick and easy way to determine if you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. Mental Health America offers this simple assessment to give you a quick snapshot of your mental health. Need mental health services? Cigna Healthcare participants can receive virtual services or participate in Cigna’s total behavioral health program. And remember, all SCS employees can utilize the Methodist Employee Assistance Program. Services are always confidential and discreet.
Want to manage stress through nutrition? Try Invigorate through Omada Health.

A healthy diet can actually help relieve the symptoms of stress and anxiety. If you are an SCS employee on our Cigna Health Plan, consider joining our Invigorate Campaign through Omada. Over the next few weeks, you will receive emails regarding the program. By joining, you will learn how to eat healthier, move more, sleep better, and manage stress. Join over 300 SCS employees who have already given Omada a try!

In addition, here’s a great article published by Harvard Medical School, titled “Nutritional Strategies to Ease Anxiety." Also, check out this month’s healthy VitaMin recipe, Black Bean & Charred Corn Sliders, and the Vital Health Information in a Minute: “Get Back to Nature.”
