The Calif. Dept. of Public Health (CDPH) added new groups to its eligibility list for the COVID-19 vaccine, effective March 15.
There are several ways to find a vaccine appointment. 
1. Register with the State of California at: myturn.ca.gov to be notified when you are eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.

2. Make an appointment with Contra Costa County:

3. Make an appointment at a partner site:

Healthcare systems, pharmacies and other providers have different eligibility requirements for COVID-19 vaccinations. You can find information about each of these providers by scrolling down on the CCHS Vaccine page: coronavirus.cchealth.org/get-vaccinated

If you have questions about vaccine, speak to your medical provider if you have one. You can also learn more about vaccines on the state’s COVID-19 website.
"Help Your Neighbor" Program

For Contra Costa residents who are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccine, an appointment to get immunized is just a few clicks away. But not everyone feels comfortable making an appointment online or through email.
If you know someone who is eligible for a COVID-19 immunization appointment right now, but may need a little help, please make that offer. Even if you cannot yet make an appointment for yourself, you can help someone you know – and the whole community.

A year ago, Contra Costa lost its first member to COVID-19.

Over the coming year, that tragedy was to repeat itself more than 700 times, each time claiming a beloved soul and leaving an ever-widening hole in our community.

On March 22, 2021, a night of hope and healing, we paused as a county, as cities and as individuals to remember those we’ve lost, to comfort those left behind and to collectively heal and begin the process of moving forward. Thank you to the City of Brentwood for their touching light display.

The Board of Supervisors welcomes community members to join the 27th Annual César E. Chávez Commemorative Virtual Celebration on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 11 am.

“We honor the memory of César E. Chávez and continue his commitment to fight for social justice and for those who can’t fight for themselves,” said Board Chair, Supervisor Diane Burgis. We also recognize our 2021 Youth Hall of Fame awardees, highlighting deserving teens and their commitment to community and service.”

The theme for this year’s celebration is Move Our Community Forward – Adelante Con Nuestra Comunidad.

The celebration will feature three keynote speakers, including Mary Rocha, Antioch School District Board Trustee, Jane Garcia, Chief Executive Officer of La Clínica de La Raza, and Arturo Cruz, San Pablo City Councilmember. This year’s event will feature musical performances by Mariachi Monumental and Ballet Folklorico Netzahualcoyotl.

The Youth Hall of Fame Awards presentation acknowledges outstanding Contra Costa County teens who demonstrate excellence in one of six categories.

The 2021 Youth Hall of Fame Awardees are:

The nonprofit Contra Costa Crisis Center runs the 211 call center for Contra Costa County, answering calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Contact 211 to access free and confidential crisis and suicide prevention counseling, and referrals for disaster assistance, food, health care and insurance assistance, stable housing and utilities payment assistance, employment services, veteran services, and childcare and family services.

The Board supports the Contra Costa Crisis Center’s efforts to broaden awareness about the vital services provided through its 211 call center, and encourages residents to utilize the free, confidential services to seek support for themselves and loved ones.

Leadership Development Program

Attend a four-day virtual conference coordinated by American Red Cross. Designed to cultivate core leadership skills such as teamwork, public speaking, and diversity awareness, the Leadership Development Center builds confidence and lasting friendships. Through service learning and hands-on, interactive games, participants leave empowered to serve their communities. Students attending LDC will participate in workshops on topics including disaster preparedness, diversity, public speaking, leadership, and international relations.
We are accepting students in grades 9–12 (including graduating seniors) who are interested in gaining new skills and meeting Red Cross youth throughout our region.

Delta Protection Advisory Committee

The Delta Protection Commission is advised by a Delta Protection Advisory Committee (DPAC), a 15 member volunteer body consisting of representatives of diverse interests within the Delta. Members are appointed by the Commission to a 3-year term and may be re-appointed. DPAC generally meets 5-6 times a year. Currently, meetings are held virtually via Zoom but may resume in Walnut Grove as COVID-19 protocols all lifted. The Commission strives for diversity in representation on DPAC, including geographic diversity throughout the entire Delta region.
 
We are seeking applications from individuals to serve on DPAC representing the following categories:

·     Delta NGO Habitat/Conservation Representative

First 5 Contra Costa helps young children start school healthy and ready to learn. They invest in programs and advocate for policies focused on children during their first five years, the most important time in children's development.

Knightsen Town Advisory Council

Applicants must reside within the Knightsen TAC boundaries to serve on this board.
 
The Council advises the Board of Supervisors on land use and planning matters affecting the community of Knightsen and may represent the Knightsen community before the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, and the Zoning Administrator on such issues as land use, planning, and zoning. The Council may also represent the community before the Local Agency Formation Commission on proposed boundary changes affecting the community.
 
The Council may advise the Board of Supervisors on services which are or may be provided to the community by Contra Costa County or other local government agencies. Such services include, but are not limited to, public health, safety, welfare, public works, and planning. The Council may also provide input and reports to the Board, County staff, or any County hearing body on issues of concern to the community.
 
However, it is understood that the Board of Supervisors is the final decision-making authority with respect to issues concerning the community and that the Council shall serve solely in an advisory capacity.
 
The Council meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm located at the Knightsen Farm Bureau in Knightsen.
 
Assessment Appeals Board

The Assessment Appeals Board conducts impartial hearings on property assessment disputes between taxpayers and the county assessor. Based on the evidence presented at these hearings, the appeals board determined the value of the disputed property or determines other matters of property tax assessment within the board’s jurisdiction.
 
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess five or more years of professional experience in California as one of the following: licensed real estate broker, attorney, certified public accountant (CPA) or public accountant, property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization, property appraiser certified by the Office of Real Estate Appraisers, or property appraiser certified by the State Board of Equalization.
 
Compensation:
This is a volunteer position. Assessment Appeals Board members are compensated for their time at hearings and reimbursed for their mileage to attend assessment appeals hearings.
 
The Assessment Appeals Board meets every Thursday at 9:00 a.m. located at 651 Pine Street, Room 107 in Martinez.
 
Library Commission

The Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and the County Librarian; provides a forum for the community to provide input concerning Library operations and recommends proposals to the Board of Supervisors and the County Librarian which may improve the Library.
 
The Commission meets on the 4th Thursday of every other month at 7pm located at 777 Arnold Drive in Martinez.

Background: The Board of Supervisors receives valuable input and community participation from numerous citizen advisory boards on a range of issues. Boards usually meet monthly on a regular basis.
 
Candidates for these positions must live in District 3 or any specified boundary area for special districts. District 3 is comprised of the cities of Antioch, Oakley, and Brentwood, and the unincorporated communities of Blackhawk, Diablo, Bethel Island, Byron, Knightsen, and Discovery Bay.
