“The Hidden Wound”
~ Rev. Meredith Garmon

It's been fifty years since Wendell Berry's 1970 essay on the wound of racism. It's still resonant.
Sun Oct 11, 10:00am
Indigeneity
~ Rev. LoraKim Joyner

Every day is Indigenous Peoples' Day. There have been many days when humankind has failed, but that is only a part of what Indigenous Peoples' Day is about. It is also a time to change the narrative from, as Sam describes in The Lord of the Rings, "Stories full of darkness... you didn't want to know the end, because how could they be happy?" There is no time like the present, this day, and every day, to hold onto what is good in this world, by letting go of the burdens of oppression that trap us all. By decolonizing ourselves, we forge bonds of friendship with kind and kin and become an integral part of a great story.

In the world of the arts, white supremacy has existed side-by-side with a fascination with the culture of otherness. Many of the solo piano works performed this Sunday reflect the appropriation of non-white musical idioms by classical composers... Read more HERE.

Doggie Play Date Wanted

Do you have a dog that loves to play? Omid Islah, a child from one of our refugee families living in New Rochelle, loves animals and would very much like to play with a dog. (His grandfather had a dog in Afghanistan and he misses the pet terribly.) If you have a dog that Omid could play with, a volunteer would be happy to drive the boy to you so the two could play outside together for 20-30 minutes. Contact Jane Dixon (lilrhodie@gmail.com, 914-370-0760)
Winter Coat Drive for Refugees - Last Days
